Won't start up....

#1 Post by Lukesed »

I was trying to run puppy on one of my old computers (with the CD) , and after the green "Done" text comes up, I get and error repeated constantly that fills the screen. The part you probably need to know is "errno 8".

No, errno8 doesn't mean anything.

Maybe try the official 1.0.2 when it comes out.
You weren't getting any other error message, like "scsi: invalid opcode" for example?

i think you get errno 8 when the kernel can't load modules properly ... this can happen if:

image.gz is corrupted
the cd is corrupted
the drive isn't reading the cd disc properly
there are ram problems (defective ram, not enough ram)
you have a 386 or 486 cpu trying to run i686 instructions
