@gcmartin: please keep this kind of Saturday-night prose "securely" in your diary and reread in six months time. Sober.

"I have nothing to say and I'm saying it! And that's poetry" John Cage.
This worked well for him, but not for you.

Hi James C,

There's also the builtin miniSD cardreader, which can handle cards up to 128Gb, if I remember correctly. (can't find where I read/heard this)
I've never been able to fill a 128GB HDD, but then I'm not much into multimedia.

I use a lot of storage space ...... But more choices are always nice.

So far, no one of us has replied to Peebee's question:
Perhaps we should form some sort of mutual help group?? Here on the forum - maybe a bit OT? - or "somewhere else"?
I'm beginning to think this is a really good idea:
If such a "canine" forum existed, I would happily send my first questions:
  • Will Remix OS be truly open-source in the future?
Can I remove anything "Google" from the OS?
Is there a way to retrofit my pc-speakers to "mini-jack"
I want most apps to come from Fdroid! Possible?
Can I install my Brother printer?
    Will this essential code work:

    Code: Select all

    aplay /usr/share/audio/2barks.wav
    to tide me over
Can I add ROX please
Does Remix OS need Puppyfication and if so how?

JIDE wrote:SHIPPING

We'll start shipping by early next week. We'll start with a few hundred first and ramp up to thousands shipped every day.

The first to be shipped will be to our US and North American backers. They are also the first plugs (Type A) that we are producing so they'll also be the first ones we ship. Next up will be the EU plugs (Type C) and finally, the UK plugs (Type G).

When your Remix Mini ships, our logistics partner will send you an email along with a tracking number for you to follow your Mini along it's voyage.

Fresh off the assembly lines, your Remix Minis will travel to Hong Kong where they will get on planes and fly into your country. After it passes customs, they'll be expressed to your waiting hands.

Along the way, they'll have to go hundreds or thousands of miles and pass through a couple of customs departments before you'll hear that knock on the door announcing the arrival of your Mini.

It'll be like Christmas in late October/early November!

Thanks again to one and all, and to all a good night! (It's almost midnight here in Beijing)

I ordered the US plug! :D

I recently bought 23 inch HDMI monitor by HP (very bright and sharp!)
http://store.hp.com/us/en/pdp/hp-pavili ... ed-backlit

It doesn't have built-in speakers but it should be able to show the monitor screen
and then play the audio on a cheap amp/speaker system hooked to
audio jack out of remix mini.

I tested this arrangement with my DVD recorder which has HDMI output
and audio out as well.

Most people will use their TV with Remix computer.
The HDMI of TVs plays the audio over the built-in TV speakers.

Hi, Whitecollar16,

This is Cassie from the Remix Team. The 1st gen of Remix Mini only supports USB 2.0, but we may consider upgrading to USB 3.0 for Remix Mini Pro. So just stay tuned!

Hi @Don570.

Question
Doesn't your new monitor have speaker jacks? HDMI from your Mini to your monitor carries the sound which you pick up from the HP's speaker jacks.

Hope this is helpful

UK plug

I bought an adapter to convert it to a UK plug and JIDE announced UK plugs would be available about three days later.

Upvote for a support group/forum section.

Doesn't appear so. That's why audio out is important for Remix mini.

OS
Remix OS
They don't say which version of Remix OS for the Cube
It may be older version 1.5 or even version 1.0
which may explain the cheap price

Report on internet

http://www.techinsider.io/google-to-mer ... id-2015-10
Google plans to merge its two operating systems Chrome and Android
into one operating system that can run on any device, The Wall Street
Journal's Alistair Barr reports. The change could happen as early as 2017,
according to the report. Google may also show off an early version of the
software in 2016.
