This may be a dumb question, and covered elsewhere in this thread... But why is there no Debian Stretch x64 offering or options in Woof? Again, I know next to nothing about woof, but noticed there are setup files for x86 (i386) debian Stretch repos, but not x86_64 (amd64).. (...and I may be wrong about that) What needs to be done in Woof to build a 64-bit Debian Stretch based puppy? .. here's a debian stretch 64bit build recipe that can be added to your extracted woofce folder. unzip and put in /woof-distro/x86_64/ you may also want this .pet that adds some finishing touches. place it in your /woof-out_x86_64_x86_64_debian_stretch64/packages-pet folder once you have merged out. http://distro.ibiblio.org/puppylinux/test/zz_stretchfix64.pet note that whilst this creates a working puppy, it is a bit of a mongrel as it's using various packages from tahr,xenial & bionic, including bionics kernel. but you can use it as a starting point, for compiling it's native applications and kernel

Why are there so many errors on the ./0setup? Tried with Ubunto Bionic and Xenial x86-64. Also, why is Xenial downloading Tahr packages? Any of these Ubuntu derivs gonna run OOTB? Looks like not according my terminal feedback. Pretty sure Slacko will work but I prefer the Ubuntu world. The download links to the repositories don't seem to be accurate, either. I'll have to get more specific when I get a free minute... Hmmf... better to complain less and do more.... so I deputize Me! 
I'll work on a few fixes. Where do I send em? |

hi slavvo67, the warnings in 0setup at the start are just because various repos have been updated and you can either choose to use the original packages from when it was first built, so as to make it exactly how it was when released (note that you would also need the same woofce version). or choose to add the updated packages to the package lists. xenial uses a few tahr packages, and bionic uses a few xenial & tahr packages. they mostly have their own though. i just tried all the 64bit builds and they all work (tahrpup64 was missing a symlink but now fixed) note that woofce has changed a lot since tahrpup & xenialpup were released, and some of fixes that were used at the time for the release iso may now conflict with woofce. so although they boot to desktop, i had to set the icon theme manually, there may also be other problems with them. removing zz_tahrfix may fix those problems. bionicpup however builds the same iso as on the release thread. _________________ Bionicpup64 built with bionic beaver packages http://murga-linux.com/puppy/viewtopic.php?t=114311 Xenialpup64, built with xenial xerus packages http://murga-linux.com/puppy/viewtopic.php?t=107331 |

Could you give a small snippet of the error messages you are seeing? I just did an ARM build and everything seems normal. You will have to use the Default Application Chooser to set the web browser to midori because woof doesn't set it correctly. Messages like these from ./2createpackages are normal and can be ignored.
When unpacking the zip file on your SD card, it should create about three dozen files and one directory named "overlays" with over a hundred files. If you don't see the "overlays" directory but only files you need to check the settings of the program you used to unpack the zip file. |
