Again Dell D620. Video playback with Gnome Mplayer is working after it failed in 6.3.0. Overall an improvement with less icons on the desktop and better theming - Puppy benefiting from looking more professional in its looks.

So promising start Micko.

Oh, I've just booted the new 32-bit to check on my wireless and sound.
(I'd replaced the original Broadcom little board with an Atheros, to try to make LibrePup wifi work; in this Dell E6410.)

Seems OK.

Audio works.

32 bit 6.3.0.1 frugally installed to Pentium M laptop with ipw2200 wireless.

Boots to desktop ok. Touchpad, keyboard, all other input devices ok, sound ok. flsynclient works correctly on the ALPS touchpad.
The 3.14.57 kernel is quite slow to load modules on boot and would not connect to ipw2200 (no device found blacklisted wl etc... still no). change_kernel to 3.14.55 from slacko 6.3.0 and boot was noticeably faster and ipw2200 connects (Dougal perfect, SNS no, Frisbee yes but without a way to set the dropwait needed by the ipw2200).

Code:

CUPS-PDF      : <i>Default</i>
-SCSI Disks-

Quite usable in this state, glxgears FPS as expected for this laptop.

Fresh frugal install of the 64 bit iso.
Regular keyboard and usb Logitech mouse both work.

When I go into terminal mode (command line) and enter the following:

find / -iname "*.conf" | egrep -i xorg

I get a "hard link count is wrong ..." message. Try it.

Nouveau driver support:
About Nouveau support for the Geforce GTX 960 and any other Maxwell chip Nvidia cards.

I found this:

[Nouveau] [PATCH 2/2] remove maxwell support for now
http://lists.freedesktop.org/archives/nouveau/2015-July/021597.html

This was in July 2015

This statement says it all.

There is no EXA acceleration, user better off with modesetting.

You would think this has been corrected by now, but I have not found anything saying it.

No help.

Boots to a desktop, but the desktop is all distorted and in general
unusable. Just a bunch of lines, partial images, and colors

I switched to the modesetting driver

Desktop OK using that driver.

Same results as bigpup with a GTX-750 card.Works with modesetting driver.

Just experimenting.....booted Alienbob's new Slackware Live iso
http://alien.slackbook.org/blog/slackware-live-edition/ ........ it first booted to the distorted display with nouveau then automagically reverted to modesetting. It took a couple of minutes but booted to a desktop.

Code:
bash-4.3$ uname -a
Linux darkstar 4.1.13 #1 SMP Fri Nov 13 18:16:47 CST 2015 x86_64 AMD FX(tm)-8320 Eight-Core Processor AuthenticAMD GNU/Linux

A very interesting occurrence in testing this "Proof of Concept".

Firstly, thanks @01Micko, I can see where you are guiding us in the community. Excellent.

On this Slacko version, I downloaded, created a DVD, and booted this on a 6-7 yr/old HP Touch laptop used for seminars.

On initial use, before FirstRUN completion, I tried screen touches: "touching" was not there. So I walked away on Saturday not doing much more, except to leave it running on a table in the house. This morning, I find that on-screen finger-tracking is WORKING!

Nothing has been done on my part. Thanks for where this is heading.
