Pidgin facebook xmpp

Pidgin has officially abandoned support for facebook xmpp. Facebook chat no longer works with pidgin., https://developer.pidgin.im/ticket/16802 Since most of my chat friends use facebook this is a big problem. Pidgin developers recommend the purple-facebook plugin,

but i can't find it in the repos. I am using a slackware based puppy called compiz-pup. Any ideas how I can get this plugin? Maybe I should compile it, but would that require that I compile pidgin too?

Yes, at the moment you have to compile the plugin yourself (and yes, it must be done against Pidgin's sources). It's being (eventually) folded into the main program, but as of yet, it's not available that way to the regular public, as far as I'm aware.

I tried compiling it myself, but it wanted a higher version of glib/c.
