As near as I can tell, both from docs about my Dell Latitude E6410 and the following report-video-glx info, I have an intel card in my machine. I _think_ I'm having a video driver issue, as the refresh rate on my VNC session is ghastly. So I thought maybe it's a driver issue. But when I swap "intel" for either "vesa" or "modesetting" as the video driver, X won't start. I feel like "intel" should be vanilla and included, but...maybe not?

Here's the info from report-video-glx...anything else I can provide to make this less opaque?

Code:
Thu 7 Jan 2016  Operating System: Quirky-6.1.4  Linux 3.12.6
2.0 VGA compatible controller: Intel Corporation Core Processor Integrated Graphics Controller (rev 02)
oem: Intel(R)Ironlake Mobile Graphics Chipset Accelerated VGA BIOS  product: Intel(R)Ironlake Mobile Graphics Controller Hardware Version 0.0

X Server: Xorg   Driver: vesa
X.Org version: 1.14.3
  dimensions:    1280x800 pixels (301x192 millimeters)
depth of root window:    24 planes

Intel(R) Core(TM) i7 CPU M 640
 Core 0: 1599  1: 2800  2: 1733  3: 2800  MHz

Code:
# glxgears
glxgears: symbol lookup error: /usr/X11R7/lib/libX11.so.6: undefined symbol: xcb_take_socket

It appears that something is wrong...is the problem that I don't have the right library for glxgears to run? Or is this indicative of the video driver issue I might be having...

Quirky- is a test bed for Puppy development.
It is going to be buggy and not that fully developed.
It is being used to try doing things in different ways and trying new ideas.

There is a good chance the Intel driver is not in the version of Quirky you have.

You need to be trying to use the latest version Quirky 7.4

It would be better if you used a main stream official version of Puppy.
Slacko
Tahrpup
Fatdog
Etc......

The newest Puppy versions are Slacko 6.3 and Tahrpup 6.0.5.

You can get them from here:

I had a different problem with the intel driver in quirky werewolf.
My screen wasn't stable and it would be unusable.

....but I was told the solution.

Yes, I ended up going with X-tahr 6.x and it's great. Used "intel" right out of the box. Quirky was clearly to blame. Or maybe not, but it just wasn't the right dog for me...
