Tahr not listed in Distrowatch yet

#1 Post by sszindian »

I realize BK doesn't have interest in 'Puppy' anymore but he should have at least listed both Tahr 6.0.5 CE and for sure Tahr64 6.0.5 CE in DISTROWATCH by now so the rest of the linux world can enjoy them before they become history!!

If a new 'Quirky' comes out it's listed within a matter of days?

Tahrpup is listed:

The 64bit version isn't though since the 64bit version isn't an official release.

Tahr 6.0.5 series - Distrowatch

What is listed at the link you provided above states- 2014-10-28 and lists a '6.0' Tahrpup version... Nobody looking at that Puppy page and see's a version with a date 2-years old is going to click on it for a download!!! As far as the 64-bit, Slacko64 is listed but (I may be wrong) I don't remember it being tagged as 'official' and really Slacko64 or Tahr64 shouldn't have to be IMO, 32-bit and 64-bit are the same basic-programs, same basic-functions, directed at different hardware!

The idea of distrowatch classifying all puppies as one is kind of silly. This worked OK until puppy 4.3.1. Having Quirky in it's own category is the right way to go I think. Since the layout of distrowatch is the way it is (with Slacko, Tahr, Precise, Wary, Racy all rolled into one), I think having Slacko 64-bit at the top is ok because Slacko 6.x and 64-bit has been less tested than Tahrpup 6.x (which was at the top for a long time) so this will help it get more feedback and iron out the bugs (fresh beta testers! ).

Puppy classification has rules too. never Precise Puppy stayed with a 0 as second number.
In my opinion tahrpup is better than slacko by its PPM
