Using ICEWM, skin replaces my own wallpaper. |
|
Is there anyway from it to stop from doing this?
I like my wallpaper, not the skins =P

You might try moving or renaming /root/my-applications/bin/icewmbg and see if that helps. If not there are other work arounds.

i usually run icewm without running icewmbg
to run icewm without icewmbg, close down X (click Logout in the menu ... or press ctrl+alt+backspace) ... then type:
startx icewm

Renaming icewmbg to icewmbg_backup shold have the desired effect (or delte it altogether).

when you start X by typing startx icewm, Puppy will remember that configuration, and start X with "icewm" as your window manager until you change it again (by typing startx fvwm95 or startx icewm-session2 or whatever)
startx icewm-session2 ... runs icewm and icewmbg (icemwbg is used by icewm to set the wallpaper/background)
startx icewm ... runs icewm without icewmbg
startx icewm-session ... runs icewm and icewmbg and any other icewm program (if you have icewm-session installed ... i didn't include it in my package)
there are other executables associated with icewm
icewmhint ... i don't know what this does, it says it's used internally, icewm seems to run ok without it
icewmtray ... i haven't noticed any program that seemed to need it
icedock is not part of icewm ... it provides a dock for dockable apps, like wmnd and wmsm
stripped and upx'ed, most of the icewm executables are not very big anyway
icewm ... 190k
icewm-lite ... 137k
icewmhint ... 4k
icewmbg ... 49k
