Android tablet not reading files on USB stick

#1 Post by boof »

I use my phone as an hotpoint, and wifi to my laptop (puppy 6.0.3) and my tablet (Android 4.2.2). I want to share files between the pc and the tablet once, as the tablet doesnt/cant have play store app on it. I got the files from the phone to the notebook and a memory stick. Just hope I can complete the transfer. Tablet not reading thru frugal 6.0.2 files on stick to application folders. Suspect I'll have to format usb stick-to what pls?

I'm gonna guess: FAT32 formatting.

One idea
If you are using a modern PUP (say from last 4-5 months) you probably can transfer files using its USB cabled to the PC. Those PUPs have the functionality built-in for doing so. The develops are aware of how many members have gotten these smartDevices for home use and had taken steps to build connection ability into their distros.

Hope this is helpful

You can transfor files on fatdog64 via bluetooth. If you have android you might want to give AIORemote a try:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/deta ... mote&hl=en

It has file transfer tools and also the ability to act as a remote mouse/keyboard. I have not directly tried it on linux but it is java based.

About "sharing files on LAN"

U can use a FTP SERVER and a FTP CLIENT. Easy to find Ftp server for Android.

And for client with Puppy, multiple choices, Filezilla, Gftp, ... ? or cmd line, wget.

And try Ftp server for puppy.

Or File sharing with Samba https://play.google.com/store/apps/deta ... dsmb&hl=fr

Tablet not reading thru frugal 6.0.2 files on stick to application folders
How are you doing this connection?

Is the stick plugged directly into the tablet with a USB-OTG cable?

Are both the tablet and stick plugged into the computer ?

My understanding is that in order to have that work you need a USB stick that's advertised as tablet-compatible. Usually those have two connectors, a USB-A (regular rectangular) for your computer box and a USB-Micro (phone style) for your tablet phablet or phone.

boof, if your files are less than ½GB, there's a cabled solution that should work for you, discussed in this thread:

or go directly to

Xenial Puppy 64, Gigabyte motherboard, Intel i7 4770.
