Subject description: That a real question! I do not know how at this time. TIA for any pointers.

Hello all.

Here, jlst referred me to his suggested improvements to the Puppy Woof-CE
on a particular subject.

It raised another question in my mind: I am currenlty updating -- with very valuable
help from various contributors and testers -- the Woof template for DPup-Wheezy.
If there are any valuable|useful|interesting suggestions and|or improvements that
lay dormant in that Woof-CE repository, I want them! Smile

Browsing the Woof-CE git-hub directly always brings up the "same old, same old"
possibility of downloading the total zip, which is not what I want. I passed that
milestone over a month ago and indeed built not one, but two Woof-CE Wheezies.

We currently have a working alpha1 based on Linux kernel 3.14.56, the same
kernel as the one in TahrPup. So, back to the initial question:

How does one browse and search for suggested improvements in the Woof-CE
git-hub that are not yet included in the template?

So we don't waste time re-inventing the four-hole button or the car wheel... Twisted Evil
I'm pretty sure your answer will be useful to other developers as well.

Many thanks in advance for any pointers. BFN.

As an example:

The Woof-CE template for the DPup Wheezy has lost the "save your session to CD-
DVD" function. That function was a distinctive feature of Puppies, but this new Woof-
CE template in particular is incapable of saving a session to CD/DVD anymore.

Where do I find the code in the woof-CE or in the suggested improvements to
re-instate it?

Thanks in advance. BFN.

At the woof github page you can browse changes in chronological order clicking on commits.
You can search for a specific keyword, say dvd from the search box.
If you know the file of interest say shutdownconfig you can use the "blame" button to see how every line of code was changed and (hopefully) why. From there you can also travel back in the file history and use its previous incarnations as needed.
(you can also do all these from the terminal in your local woof-CE git clone - not the tarball download which does not have any of the git features. However, this requires some getting used to with git)

Hello again mavrothal.

A
Code:
diff -y --left-column
confirmed that the shutdown script in the DPup_Wheezy_3.14.56 and
the "raw" script you directed me to in the Woof-CE are identical.

I will have to search deeper -- include any possibility, including disc and
hardware response.

Again thanks.
