[CUPS] Install frustration [Solved]

#1 Post by Béèm »

Now it was time to get my Epson Stylus PHOTO RX600 printer working.

So I downloaded the install, and started the install.
Got stuck as the needed tar file didn't download from the tsech (cz?) site.
Having seen a remark I downloaded it manually and unzipped it.

But what now?

Looked at the wiki pages ===> didn't find a solution.
Started to see around in the forum ===> found some 1000 posts (well maybe exagerated). In any case I see a lot of persons have problems to install there printer support.

Isn't there a concise description of the procedure to follow?
Where to start after having unzipped the cups files?
(did unzip them staring in /)

Saying to myself there was a temporary problem with the cz website I retried the cups-install again, but to no avail.
sh-3.1# sh cups-install.sh
--23:05:39-- ftp://ftp.linux.cz/pub/linux/slackware/ ... ackware/a/ cups-1.1.23-i486-1.tgz

Retrying.

So I tried gftp to get the file and within a couple of seconds I had te file cups-1.1.23-i486-1.tgz , but what do I have to do with it.
As I am outside the cups-install script now, I am at a loss.
