Hola, josejp2424.

Thanks for the update.

However, I think the new jwm included in the update can not recognize *.xpm icons
in the taskbar. The previous one you had recognized them ok. Please confirm?
Thanks.

I have some *.xpm icons in my taskbar that "disappeared" with the new jwm.
They came back when I reinstalled the old jwm.

Rest of update seems fine, but still testing!

Astalavista.

CUPS working

#22 Post by davids45 »

G'day josejp2424 (and musher0),

Thank you for the update .pet with CUPS-1.7.5 which I installed in my Frugal Pup and now have a working printer :D .

I also edited the ~/Choices/ROX-filer/PuppyPin xml file to give me default desktop icons with English text, so thank you also to musher0.

Hi

jwm is not displaying .xpm icons in menu. My cups only opens manually. How to fix?

Also rox is set to use urxvt but seems better if set to lxterminal by default.

Hi stemsee.

I wouldn't worry too much about it.

As for me, I don't put lids on my cups, so I don't have the problem. It's my
strawberry jam jar, peanut butter jar, sandwich pickles jar, corn relish jar, spaghetti
sauce jar, etc., that I have to open manually.

(Tough! The way that you explained your problem brought this on you! ;) No offense
intended.)

Joke aside, it's your choice, I think:
1) locate the xpm icons and convert them to png in mtpaint?

2) go back to a previous jwm version that worked ok?

3) recompile jwm with png capacity?

Finally, please be clear. Do you have
-- two problems: 1) xpm icons do not show in jwm generally; AND 2) the cups utility
____ isn't reacting properly?

-- or just one: the xpm icon for cups in the jwm menu isn't activating cups?

If the latter:
-- the first thing that I'd check is if the command in file printer-wizard.desktop is well
____ formed;
-- if it is, check in .jwmrc if jwm is picking it up properly.

In any case, it might be a good idea to check the cups_shell script. The last edit in
mine was done by zigbert in 2014. (Please see attached illustration.) Would there be
anything else wrong with it? (Like a seg fault?)

And obviously, the no-nonsense question: do you have the right browser to run cups?

BFN.

Good idea except there is no problem with .png! only xpm

The cups utility opens chrome but not at localhost:631.

But it is running very nicely. And good for compiling too!

I have already put together a full featured derivative!

That's exactly what I'm saying: convert the xpm images to png images?

I ment to quote this ... where you probably meant to write .xpm not .png

May be better to change geany preference from urxvt to lxterminal by default! /root/.config/geany.conf tools section

Code: Select all

[tools]
terminal_cmd=lxterminal -e "/bin/sh %c"
browser_cmd=google-chrome
grep_cmd=grep

I choose Slimboat as Browser

#32 Post by Pelo »

Jessie instalado al lado de la Wolx de mi amigo Medor de Francia.
I choose Slimboat as Browser because it's not a big one, fully tested by our teacher ASRI in education francesa. Works fine with YouTube too
... and you get with Slimboat QT Libs available for lot of Qt applications
:) a good deal !
If Musher0 needs some translation in idioma latino, puedo ayudar..
La pupjibaro non solo est una guapo distro, pero te hace conocer otras idiomas, poquito a poquito. (translation : spanish will be very useful for Puppy Linux, as Pupjibaro is entering now north america, via Montreal)
I want to change black color of the windows, because black is no so good for spring and summer times. better would be blue. I must say that compassSVG is really a nice icon theme. Kick out Ardis and other so flat themes !

Hi pelo.

About the problem you reported here:
-- pmusic plays music files ok
-- gnome-player plays music ok (see attached) too

-- gnome-mplayer cannot play movies from DVD
--

Code: Select all

ldd gnome-player
reports that libnotify.so.4 is not ok,

-- mplayer itself can play movies from DVD just fine (see attached capture) from
console. (My direct mplayer scripts are attached, to use until José corrects the
gnome-mplayer situation.)

Also, a general gtk2 error appears in terminal when rox is launched from terminal:
the "murrine" engine -- used to render all "murrine" gtk themes -- is missing.
(Although this has no effect on gnome-mplayer.)

One good news, unrelated to the gnome-player situation: Vivaldi-1.1 runs fine in
this pupjibaro-Jessie-beta.

I hope this clears matters a bit.

Bye for now.

All multimedia section is too test by the creator !

Gnome-mplayer toujours bloqué après opérations proposées par Musher0
Xhippo installed as rescue doess the job. Pmusic 5.0.0 cannot read songs. All multimedia section is too test by the creator !
MhWavedit does its job, don't touch it
Some tries should be done with the standard Puppy applications when version is bêta :) It would be a shame that jessie, so nice jessie, would not be able to read a video or play music :!: .

If New puppies unable to play music and read videos, all passengers will leave the Puppy Boat, as the captain. Only will remain the mechanics, for training.

Hi pelo.

Are you using the latest pupjibaro-Jessie, the one on page 1 of this thread? I have
no such problems with pmusic. The only problems I had were those I mentioned.

I have no time now for this, I'm on another project. Please ask José, it's his baby.
He is the developer, I am not and I do not wish to take his place.
