usb full installs on my laptop
They work for 3 or 4 reboots then I get lots of messages on booting.
I guess once they start displaying messages, the error has already occured so they probably dont mean much.
Then it just stops and hangs.

Ive tried fsck and restoring a snapshot but on reboot still the ramdisk screen.

With a usb frugal install after the messages and hang, on rebooting the install is still ok and working

Ive still got easy 0.2 on a flash drive and that always boots up ok.

Ive just tried Xerus on another laptop and it boots reliably.

Quirky does a filesystem check, from ramdisk, if this file exists:
/.fsckme.flg

When the check takes place, that file gets deleted, so it shouldn't happen at next bootup, unless you hard coded "qfix=fsck" into syslinux.cfg, then it would be stuck doing a fsck at every bootup.

Normally, that /.fsckme.flg would only exist if there is an abnormal shutdown, as a normal shutdown, it gets deleted in /etc/rc.d/rc.shutdown

I run the Multiple sound card wizard, select hw:1 but it doesnt write it to retrovolrc. I have to edit it manually.
Geoffreys version does seem to write it correctly.

On the first boot up its a bit confusing having the please wait processing message over the xkb configuration manager as it doesnt continue until youve gone through the configure.
The help icon and exit icon are both missing on xkb configuration manager

The retrovol volume setting doesnt get remembered when rebooting a usb frugal install but does with usb full.
I dont think it gets written to /etc/asound.state or that doesnt get saved.

You are right!

Sound state gets saved at shutdown, when /etc/rc.d/rc.shutdown calls "/etc/init.d/10alsa stop"
Need to also save sound state when save a session.

So I pressed F2 on booting
typed quirky qfix=fsck
Not sure what I should see but all it seems to do is create a ramdisk.
And the file is still there on reboot.

If I delete /.fsckme.flg manually then the stick boots up ok.

My Easy usb drive has started doing it now.
I shall have to give my laptop a thorough memory test, just in case thats causing it.

There is a bug in pequalizer.
/usr/local/pequalizer/pequalizer has this:

#depends on alsaequal
if [ ! -f /usr/lib/alsa-lib/libasound_module_ctl_equal.so ]; then
echo "Missing dependencies"
exit
fi

However, that shared lib is at:
/usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/alsa-lib/libasound_module_ctl_equal.so

I fixed that, then run /usr/local/pequalizer/pequalizer in a terminal:

Failed to load plugin "/usr/lib/ladspa/caps.so": /usr/lib/ladspa/caps.so: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

That caps.so is in this deb:

which I installed, but then got another error:

I couldn't get pburn to burn an iso file to a blank DVD, it failed twice and spoiled 2 blank DVDs.
I installed xfburn with QPM and it worked fine.

When playing mp3 files, pMusic suddenly mutes for about 10~20 seconds and then resume. Don't know why. Anyone have same experience ? Seems also in previous Quirky.

Is anyone experiencing problems with pMusic?

Actually, for me, Xine-UI is fine as a music player, and I don't really need pMusic.

Booted up ISO OK. Seemed fine from quick check. Decided to save a remastered boot DVD. (that is the boot straight into the file settings saved on my Hard Disk)
I don't think it burnt but it may have put a grub file on one of my HD.

I don't know what that image means. Does the PC still bootup with the original CD, and find the saved session?

That message in image seems to be maybe a grub boot message that Quirky has created?

So have not yet got either the boot location CD or original Quirky to boot from the save file. I have been able to boot from Slacko ... by ensuring the CD is the default boot media - that did not work for the two Quirky disks but it did work for Antergros Linux live.

What I may try later is disabling all HD disks as boot options and try again . . .

Quirky has pBurn 4.3.16, the latest.

I just now tested it. Burnt Quirky 8.2 iso to a dvd+r, it worked.
Verified OK also.

Note, I ran "pburn" from a terminal, to see if any error messages got spitted out, but it was OK.

unfortunately, Intel graphics chipsets on some laptops (e.g. Dell Latitude 6500) seem to cause similar problems as I was faced with when I tried to permanently set up Swiss German keyboard layout using Easy Linux 0.2 pre-alpha (see post from May 20th 2017 in the Easy Linux thread).

Not only the setting itself proves to be 'quirky', but every finally successful configuration is spontaneously reset to the US layout after a restart of X, even if previously saved!
Loading of the intel-gpu-tools pet did not help.

On a Dell Vostro 1730 (NVIDIA VGA controller) the keyboard layout setting works fine

Yes, I have read your previous posts about problems with Swiss German keyboard layout. I haven't responded so far, as didn't know what to do about it. Still don't.

I still have the same problem with crond

4 hours difference when setting alarms with pschedule (or pclock)
ie for alarm at 9:30 i set it for 13:30

I use local time because I use Windows computer.


Note that the date --utc command gives the correct value for UTC time.
Everything is fine except for crond

OK, fixed, but only in the templates folder in woofQ. This means it is fixed when using jwm package from a host-distro, however not for a jwm PET.

In the case of a jwm PET, the fix will have to wait until I upgrade the PET. Which should be sometime soon, as want to upgrade jwm version, currently using a very old version.
It will be a lot of work, as all of the jwm theme pets will need to be fixed. Which is why I have put off upgrading jwm.

Have managed to boot into the original Quirky 8.2 WITH the save options enabled

I do not think the boot to HD directory remaster was written to but that may be a hardware issue around speed of the DVD drive that was also happening in Slacko . . .

The fader applet now launches, but as you said there
