hi bigpup.... can you try the 4.9.15 kernel here

Downloaded the huge-4.9.15-xenialpup64.tar.bz2

Tried the 4.9.15 kernel in Xenialpup64 7.0.8.1

No help.

Still had to use nouveau.modeset=0 to get it to boot to desktop.

SMP Enabled: Yes

I am having fun are you? Laughing

This had no affect on the resolution settings.
Still shows the same Pup-Sysinfo.

This could be the monitor telling something it can not use the 1366X768 resolution, but it is suppose to be able to.
Well, the native resolution is 1360x768.
It may be detecting that, so it will not let 1366x768 work.

Graphics hardware, resolution settings, seems to have turned into a black art. Evil or Very Mad
What should work seems to never work.

Frugal on USB flash drive.
Save folder.

Desktop drive icons.

The unmount (added icon) that appears (upper right) on drive icons when mounted.

Clicking on this (added icon) does not unmount drive.

Booting from a external hard drive. I get a black screen then X failed. Enter in text mode, the advice from the terminal was execute the Xorgwizard.
After executed it and trying to execute the X server, still fail.
The xorg log says:
Code:
RADEON: failed to initialise surface manager
radeon_setup_kernel_mem failed

Pc Info
Code:

Lenovo
AMD A6-6310 APU with AMD Radeon R4 Graphics
6 GB of Ram

Sorry for my english
any advice? Laughing

Edit
The X server work now, just executing xorgwizard and select the 2nd option "modesetting" I think. Then just execute in terminal Xwin and the dekstop appear.

Xenialpup 7.0.8.1
Xenialpup64 7.0.8.1

To boot to the desktop. I had to add nouveau.modeset=0 to the boot options.

Both boot to desktop and seem to be working with the Nouveau driver.
Do not understand why this should be needed.

This may explain what the problem could be caused by.

Some good info in this post and the one below it.

Xenialpup 7.0.8.1
kernel 4.9.13

Something not looking correct on memory information.

This computer has 16GB of memory.

Look what free shows.
Quote:
root# free
total
Mem: 2141524

-/+ buffers/cache: 316032 1825492
Swap: 0 0 0

Look at what it shows in Pup-sysInfo
Quote:
Memory Allocation:
Total RAM: 2091 MB
Used RAM: 1306 MB
Free RAM: 785 MB
Buffers: 72 MB
Cached: 920 MB
Total Swap: 0 MB
Free Swap: 0 MB

Actual Used RAM: 314 MB Used - (buffers + cached)
Actual Free RAM: 1777 MB Free + (buffers + cached)

Looks to me like it is only seeing and using 2GB of memory.
Because Xenialpup 7.0.8.1 is no PAE
It should be seeing around 4GB Question Confused

happy testing

Can this devx and kernel source be used for 7.0.4 version of xenial beta? If not, where can I find those sfs programs?

Anybody got a copy of kernel_sources-4.1.31-xenial_PAE.sfs as used in xenial-7.0.4 ? (no longer available on ibiblio....)

If it could be uploaded somewhere that would be great.
Thanks
peebee

Xenialpup 7.0.8.1 uefi iso, LiveCD test
I got similar results on my Dell desktop, with free and Pup-sysInfo only showing about 3 GB of the 8 GB installed.

However, I could not reproduce the sfsget bug you reported.

bigpup, I just booted without savefile: will snip some. The PC has 4GB.
