Can't boot usb 2.0 install from floppy

#1 Post by matthias urankar »

i am on a Dell demsion 2100, and i have a spare 40 gig Western Digital hd and 5 1/4 usb 2.0 external chase. i got the cf install ran on it just fine. my issue is the boot floppy. when i booted using the standard config on the floppy the boot process just hung up. next i comented the aspi line out and uncommented the di1000dd.sys hangs on my system, but this works... line. after the boot i had to type f for fail and gave instructions to add one of 2 blank files and did that still no luck. also after scanning for usb devices i showed a line like this

aspi device: id0 lun:0=usb 2.0 storage device 0100

i have a class comming up that i would like to use the portable version for homework when i am on the road and have to borrow a pc. how can i fix this.

e-mail me @ matthiasurankar@sbcglobal.net with a solution.

Matthias, you might just try the WAKEPUP boot floppy (see this link). I've put a newer USB mass-storage driver (USBASPI.SYS v2.20) on the disk. It worked with a USB flash drive that hung when I used BOOT2PUP.

Let me know if it works... :)
