No network adaptor recognized by XSlacko-Slim-4.4r2 (Solved)

I reinstalled this Puppy on my Acer Aspire & the SNS setup could not establish a connection to the Internet ...

Was it working before with this XSlacko-Slim-4.4r24?
If yes.
I would delete the install and do it over.

Have you tried using one of the other network connection setup programs?

Some laptops have an off/on switch for WIFI.
See if you have one and it is turned on.

What exactly do you see when you try to use SNS?
You do what?

If u read my other topic in Users u'll see it's a continuation. It's fine I deleted the .sfs file in error, then had to copy it from the latest version. Then the USB booted it up & Puppy can't recognize the eth0 & wireless adapters ...
No on/off button.
In the meantime I tried to boot up the Acer through DHCP, if that could be a clue.

Please run (in a terminal): dmseg | grep wlan
and post the output here, so we can see what's (not) happening.
If you want to use a wired network, run dmesg | grep eth
& post that output.

Does the install still have the fdrv sfs and the zdrv sfs?
Those sfs's have the drivers and the firmware needed.

If you had an older version of XSlacko-Slim.
You need to use all the sfs packages from the newer version to update the old XSlacko-Slim.

But that may not be all that has changed.

If you go to a newer version of a Puppy named version.
It is best to do a fresh frugal install of the new version.
If the old save can be used with the new version.
Copy the old save into the new install directory.
Now you should have a newer version with all the old setup, programs you installed, etc.........

I copied the other 2 sfs to the USB, then the SNS didn't work again.

Try booting not using the save.

Do you know how to do that?

I usually boot w/o the save, the last's messed up anyway.

It also didn't work w/o the fdrv.

@kuman11 try to swap kernel and modules using the kernel of other puppies. rename the zdrv as zdrv_xslacko_4.4.sfs then boot it up

If this version of Puppy ever did recognize your hardware.
I am not totally sure you said it did?

If you are not using a save.

I would delete the complete install of Xslacko-Slim-4.4r24.

Start over fresh.
Do a fresh clean install.

There is a chance, that the iso of Xslacko-Slim you are getting stuff from, was not a good download.
May want to re-download it.

If you are installing to a device formatted fat 32 or ntfs.
Those formats can get fragmented file systems.
That can cause problems if you do not defrag them.

There's only 1 of 2 reasons for the failure, now I replaced the old vmlinuz & initrd & had 2 boot.catalog files. I deleted one then suceeded in booting it up.
