Logo design for Easy Linux

My proposed new distribution Easy Linux remains a mystery, even to me.

But, the ideas are gradually coming together.

I have very briefly stated what Easy Linux is here, as well as a suggested logo:
http://barryk.org/news/?viewDetailed=00368

The SVG image looks basically OK, I suppose, but I would like it to not look so much like the original PNG that I found on the Internet.

If any artistic person feels inspired to tweak it a bit, make it look a bit more unique, keeping the friendly/welcoming/thumbs-up look of it, please go for it!

If no one does, after awhile, I might have a go at tweaking it a bit myself, though my initial attempts just made it look worse -- I don't seem to have that "artistic gene".

I think I can't do that as a graphics, though I got a picture in mind:

How about a smiling Puppy like, lying in a hammock, stretching out an arm and holding the thumb up?

Yeah, there are probably other ways to convey the message of "easy" in the logo.

Probably a picture of a strumpet would not be appropriate :)

I probably don't want a "Puppy" icon in the logo, as the proposed distro is not a fork of Puppy, something different, just with lots of Puppy ideas in it.

Probably not the strumpet, but I can imagine a lazybones with thumbs up or even an Raptor or Eagle (grinning wide over the entire face) for the easiness of getting things done on a high level... etc.pp.

You could avoid the need to distribute any logos or background pictures with a simple gradient
background plus the text 'Easy OS'.

I looked at your 00sys_logger, that's amazing.

Yes, I suppose that is one way to design a logo. It would avoid all the hassles of trying to come up with a nice face/thumb-up or whatever.

I'm really looking forward to your latest creation! Already prepared an empty SD card for it.

A fresh and innovative approach is always welcome, especially when it simplifies Linux a bit more. :)

Fantastic. I listened right through. I downloaded the mp3 file first.
The MaruOS interview is about 82 minutes in.

If you place the dog behind a computer it might tell -even a dog can use linux-.

Maybe something like this?

(svg also attached, remove fake .zip)

Here are two more.
Version 2 and 3.
Have also included real zip files.
One with the svg's and the other with the png's of the text.

Hi,

Headgear seems a plus, but perhaps an Australian bush hat with corks, and a silver cup in one hand/paw and thumb-up in the other.

My 2 cents.

Based on a standard icon set face_wink svg I made once.

Code: Select all

<svg xmlns="http://www.w3.org/2000/svg" width="124" height="96">
<g stroke="#000" stroke-width="3">
<path d="M79 76h17M79 61h17m-6-16c-8 2-15 9-11 16-4 4-4 10 0 15M25 42c-5 0-9 1-11 6m17-10l23 9m0 0l-24-4m34 14c27 4 16-43-6-33M48 6C-8 7-8 89 48 90c15 0 25-6 31-14-4 10 7 14 17 14 22 0 24-18 21-35-3-21 7-49-6-49-15 0-15 23-8 38-7 0-7 0-13 1C89 18 69 6 48 6z" fill="#fc0"/>

...never noticed those attachment boxes at the bottom of the post interface before...been here over three years i think...

anyway, a couple of images that popped into my head at "easy linux" (first two versions were even worse/they're terrible but they work all by themselves):

A few years ago I put together a system of putting svg icons on buttons.
http://murga-linux.com/puppy/viewtopic.php?t=88715

While doing so I had to collect as many freeware svg icons as possible.
If you look through the package you might see something that interests you.

Note to Barry K...

rofl0r , the developer of sabotage-linux asked a question in the issues page.
Did you answer him?
