Bonsoir, Pete.

Code:
xwininfo -root | grep geometry | tail -c 14 | awk -F"+" '{ print $1 }'
À+

D'étranges , treize œuvres pour moi.

Strange, tail -c 13, works for me.

EDIT:

With your awk version, 13 also works.
In fact 14, gives a space as the first character.

Ah! Problem solved!
I have this type of screen:
Code:
xwininfo -root | awk -F"+" '$0 ~ /geometry/ { print $1 }' | awk '{ print $2 }'
Answer: 1920x1080
My screen has one character (not pixels!) more than yours! (hehe)
Can be tricky... But the entirely awk formula above avoids the trap.

BFN.

Trad. : Ah! Problème réglé !
J'ai ce type d'écran : (... Code ...)

Merci.

Yes, the problem was that your resolution has an extra digit for the height so it was shifting/offsetting everything.
Your new method works perfectly.
Thanks.

Nice one vovchik, however in this case, extracting only the values of width and height (possibly with a 'x' between) may be more suited to then passing the values to imagemagick or net-pbm (as musher0 pointed out).

It will however come in handy for other applications, I rather like the millimeter conversion as well.

Version 2.7c6 (Déja caduque... Voir nouvelle version ici. Merci.)

Changements :
    vovchik
    -- presque toutes les traductions sont traitées par awk (replaceit en traite encore
    quelques-unes)
    -- ajouté une mention « 'q' pour quitter » au bas de l'affichage des prévisions
    -- ajouté une section "Remerciements"
    -- version entierement bilingue (français<->anglais).

Smile
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Transl. -- Version 2.7c6 (Already obsolete... See new version here.Thanks.)
Changes:
    -- incorporated vovchik's "World Time" table
    -- the list of city names goes from 112 to 126, to be as much as possible in sync
    with vovchik's Table
    -- almost all translations are handled by awk (replaceit still handles a few)
    -- added a mention " 'q' to quit " at the bottom of the forecast display
    -- added a "Thank you" section
    -- entirely bilingual version (English<->French).
I am not including screen captures since they already are on the previous page.
I remain at your disposal for any question or bug report.
Enjoy !
Smile
Dear Musher0 (Christian),
Thanks for the update. I have also been busy. I hacked myGtkMenu to allow for markup in the menu. It makes it prettier and more flexible. After that, I put together a menu that launches the meteo stuff and modified vovmeteo to show a preliminary "about" and "error" (when wttr.in is beeing uncooperative). The locations list is not really complete (e.g. still missing Iran, Iraq, and plenty of other places, particularly in Africa and Asia) but there is a pretty logical skeleton/structure.
With kind regards,
vovchik
PS. You can recompile my modded myGtkMenu by simply using the make file. Mine is 32-bit Tahr. The scripts assume that bcm is in the executables path and that bcm's img dir is there, too. Just click on vovmeteo_menu to start things off. Incidentally, I assume gedit is there for editing the menu, but, if not, change to geany or nanoedit or any other reasonable editor. the myGtkMenu prog is deleriously sensitive to tab indents, like Python on steroids, but that's the way it is. I don't really want to rewrite the parser. Sad
Dear all,
If you are having trouble displaying "!" or "&" using bcm, run the follwing command:
Code:
set +H
in a terminal and then try. It stops shell history expansion. You can put that command in a script, or, as I have done, in .bashrc and .profile.
Version 2.7c7 -- Changements :
-- Combiné les scripts Ajouter_lieu.sh et Autre_lieu.sh en un nouveau script
Ajouter_lieu.sh
-- Combiné les scripts Enlever1ligne.sh et EditerMenuMeteo.sh en Editer.sh
(Ces révisions ne font gagner qu'environ 1 Ko, mais c'est plus logique : il n'y a
plus de redites agaçantes d'un script à l'autre !)
-- Toutes les entrées au long du tableau wwoConditionCodes.txt trouvé il y +/- une
semaine par Argolance sont maintenant traduites. Cela dit, il reste à voir comment
l'auteur original Igor Chubin compactera en 15 caractères celles pour la grêle, le
grésil et la neige -- peut-être devra-t-on attendre cinq mois (je veux dire jusqu'à
l'hiver ?!) pour avoir une traduction définitive ! Wink
Ou bien... Où est-ce qu'il grêle en ce moment sur notre bonne vieille Terre ?
Shocked Very Happy
À suivre.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Transl. -- Version 2.7c7 -- Changes :
-- Combined scripts Ajouter_lieu.sh and Autre_lieu.sh in a new Ajouter_lieu.sh

-- Combined scripts Enlever1ligne.sh and EditerMenuMeteo.sh as Editer.sh

(Those edits represent a gain of approx. 1 Kb only, but it's more logical: there are
no more annoying repetitions from one script to the next!)

-- All long entries in table wwoConditionCodes.txt found about a week ago by
Argolance have now been translated. That said, it remains to be seen how original
author Igor Chubin will compact in 15 characters the entries for ice pellets, sleet
and snow -- maybe we'll have to wait five months (I mean until winter?!) for a final
translation! Wink

Or... Where on this good ol' Earth of ours are ice pellets falling now? Shocked Very Happy

TBC.

Dear Musher0,

Thanks for the update. As for ice pellets, it is now 13C in Vienna and, in the Austrian Alps, there was nasty and copious snowfall a few days ago (this was in villages, not on moutain peaks). And in Styria, golf-ball-sized hail fell, destroying the harvest of melons, pumpkins and aubergines. We may not have to wait five months. Sad

With kind regards,
vovchik

PS. And my condolences to the families and loved ones of the victims. Horrendous.

Hi vovchik.

Yes, "horrendous", you have found the right word...

Would you have the name or IATA airport codes of those cities or villages? I have
to see the text "in action" (in the wttr.in panel) to adapt the translation according
to how Igor abbreviated the description.

Thanks in advance.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Trad. : Salut vovchik.
Oui, « épouvantable », vous avez trouvé le mot juste...
Auriez-vous le nom ou le code IATA de ces villes ou villages ? Je dois voir le texte
« sur le vif » (dans le panneau wttr.in) popur adapter la traduction en suivant la
façon dont Igor a abrévié la description.
Merci d'avance.
Dear musher0,
Here is some info on the recent cold spell and bad weather in Austria:
http://www.heute.at/freizeit/wetter/Regen-Hagel-Schnee-Unwetter-Alarm-in-ganz-Oesterreich;art23671,1313408
http://www.morgenpost.de/vermischtes/article207838651/Schnee-im-Juli-Chaos-Sommer-geht-in-die-naechste-Runde.html
And "vovmeteo Mittelberg" works. Smile It is 6C there now, but, if you look at the forecast, they will be getting sudden warm weather (22C-28C) within 12 hours.
With kind regards,
vovchik
Bonsoir à tous !
Pour mémoire, je viens d'enligner le dernier less (version 481) AVEC le dernier
lesspipe (du 1er août 2015), ici. (Lesspipe est un pré-processeur qui étend la
capacité de lecture de less à toutes sortes de formats.)
Je le mentionne dans ce fil parce que mon script météo utilise less pour afficher les
prévisions. Ensuite, je vais voir, mais j'ai bien l'impression qu'il me faudra diviser
mon paquet en deux : less et cie d'un côté, le script météo et ses fichiers d'appui
de l'autre. Autrement, le paquet serait trop gros pour le forum.
À+
