Open this file then c/p its contents..

/etc/modprobe.d/blacklist.conf

You know how to navigate directories with ROX, right?

Looks OK I think, but gotta step out. Might be back later some time after giving this some thought..

"I'm using a Core 2duo E6750 with no harddrive, and a Realtek R8169 Gigabit ethernet controller.

When I start Puppy from the CD the first time, all is fine, but after I make a savefile on USB stick with heavy encryption, and reboot from the CD plus the savefile, there is no internet connection any more.

SNS shows the previous connection created, but when I click "connect now", it says "no interfaces are active".

When I try Network Wizzard, it says there is no driver loaded. When I try to do it manually, no driver can be loaded, even with auto-probe.

I have exactly the same problem all puppies I tried: Tahrpup 6.0.5, Tahrpup64 6.0.5, and Slacko 6.3 32b

In Hardware Information, the Realtek shows on the list.."

Quick questions..

Was the install to USB via your Pup disk?

Did Pup handle the formatting or was another OS/program used?

Which brand of stick?

Bruno, if you're going to be in and out throughout the day, do me a favor and keep Pup up under a *live* boot.

With you not really knowing what to do, I'll ask if you're familiar with TeamViewer? It's a remote control app where you send me an invite, I accept, login to your machine and investigate what's what, just like how an MS rep would would log into a client machine and "hands-on," assess the situation. Don't worry, you see everywhere the cursor goes. Shocked

Besides the clients I service locally, I've assisted two board members here.

So long as this sounds OK, I need to know whether you've got a fast connection?

Hello Semme
I'm logged in now with the live CD tahr64, without save file, but with perfect ethernet connection Very Happy
I have no experience with Teamviewer, but I can give it a try
Yes my connection is quite fast, I think

Good.

So long as you don't have a bandwidth cap on your internet, dwnld and install LXTreminal from PPM.

This is so you can copy'n paste without trouble. It'll be in your "Utility" menu.

Open it and cd to /tmp: cd /tmp

Confirm you're there with: pwd

If it's good, copy'n paste this in:
Code:
wget http://ftp.nluug.nl/ftp/pub/os/Linux/distr/puppylinux/pet_packages-tahr64/32bit_compatibility_libs_tahr64.sfs https://downloadus1.teamviewer.com/download/version_11x/teamviewer_11.0.57095_i386.tar.xz

Minimize your terminal. I doubt we'll need the devx.

Take ROX there, that "file" icon in the upper left corner of the desktop..

Hit the up arrow and go into "tmp."

Notice the ROX "title bar" states the directory you're in.

Now go'n rt-clk that 32bit pkg >> file >> sfs_load.

There'll be a drop-down. Select NOCOPY and load it.

Open the terminal again and: ldconfig << This starts with a lowercase L. Wink

Back in your ROX window, clk the teamviewer pkg >> XArchive opens.

Hit "extract" and OK.

OK the "extract all" dialog.

The following dialog should say /tmp >> OK it.

Done >> OK >> CLOSE XArchive.

Now with ROX, go into the extracted teamviewer folder and clk only the *green* teamviewer file.

Give it a moment, accept the license and tell me if you get a window like in my SS..

Yes?

==

Hang tight, I'll be back in a bit..

Is there a drop-down with a "NOCOPY" choice?
