The 32compat in /tmp you have, correct?

If you right clk, do you see the option to "sfs_load?"

This could just be a bad save file, because something is wrong with the file system on the USB stick.
fat32 is a Windows file system not a Linux one, so any error checking programs have to be Windows programs.

If Widows did anything on this USB stick there is a chance the file system is fragmented.
Puppy saves do not like fragmented file systems.

I would run Windows defrag and chkdsk on the USB stick and see if they find or correct anything.
If yes.

Make a new save after you run defrag and chkdsk..

There could be a bug with using heavy encryption on the save file.
Try just making one with no encryption just to see if that makes a difference.

Hello Bigpup, yes that could have been the problem, so I tried a new savefile, with Tahr64, on a new USB stick, and again the same problem: no ethernet interface after booting with the savefile, while at first boot from the live CD all was fine...
So it's the same problem with Tahr32 6.0.5, Tahr64 6.0.5, and Slacko 6.3 ...

Now the funny thing is, I tried out Wheezy 3.5.2.11, made a heavy encrypted savefile and .... all goes well, even booting many times from the savefile, ... no problem with ethernet..
So maybe the problem lies with the newer kernel, or the newer Woof?
