Newest Sea Monkey for Slacko (solved)

#1 Post by mini-jaguar »

I would like a new version, in particular because HTML5 works poorly on the older version, and Flash is a major annoyance and security problem.

It's portable. Unpack it anywhere and launch that sucka!

Get creative and store its *settings* folder outside your save..

You should also be able to find it in Menu -> Setup -> Updates Manager in Slacko. For some reason, only Firefox 45.3.0 is showing in the Slackware 14.2 one for me though (maybe because an upgraded version isn't in its slackware patches yet)?

I've tried the one from the slackware repository, it didn't work.

Also tried that portable Sea Monkey. Works so well that it doesn't (and cannot be) even unpacked and looks like a different type of file. The text file you're supposed to read is even better: has no text at all. Of course I haven't tried the ones in Japanese, just the English ones.

I didn't say "try the portable," I said "IT IS portable." Your pup can't open this?

What part? Always works for me. Click on Seamonkey 2.40, it downloads, Menu -> Internet -> Seamonkey magically appears.

How old is your Slacko? The one semme posted should work too.

You guys have totally failed in indicating where you got those, I simply looked in this sub-forum for those and they didn't work.

Why, the Seamonkey home page! Thought it was pretty obvious in my opening screenshot..

Yeah, it seems to have worked.

Unpacked, clicked on the Seamonkey icon, didn't work.

But then I clicked on the binary, and I now seem to be running 2.40, but with my earlier settings...

O.k., got full screen to work by installing the HTML5 everywhere add-on.

Earlier settings because it found your existing profile directory.
