Trinity works great...
There are not problems
I installed also wlassistant and
it works great
I use UEFI boot and I do not need any installation.
It is unique linux OS which does not
need any installation...
just copiying to HDD or USB, and with
UEFI it works perfectly...

greetings!!!

Installed it.

Almost everything seems to work fine.

Only thing I noticed is that when I tried to put the icon for the Terminal on the Desktop (using Thunar "Send to Desktop") it said it was already there. When I overwrote it, it still wasn't there. I was able to put other icons on the Desktop that way and it worked.

Once again a great job.

edit: also, there were a few things left in the trash folder. When I emptied the trash it gave an error and then worked fine after that.

edit again: I figured out why the Terminal wouldn't show up. In the exo-terminal-emulator.desktop file, there is a line that says

Code: Select all

OnlyShowIn=XFCE;
All I had to do was comment it out and it appeared.

Hi zagreb,
I installed also wlassistant and
it works great
I installed that also but couldn't connect to my wireless network, my guess is that it conflicts with frisbee.
Can you give more detail about what you did to make it work? e.g. uninstall frisbee maybe or install other packages?

Another subject: I've found that system sound notification doesn't work, my workaround for now (in terminal):

Code: Select all

cp -af /opt/trinity/share/mimelnk/application/ogg.desktop $HOME/.trinity/share/mimelnk/audio/
Then at least the startup sound works and system sounds can be configured properly in Trinity Control Center > Sound & Multimedia > System Notifications

Hi fred !
Did know TDE from Slax too.Had forgotten it completely.

First was a bit sceptical because they say KDE would be a Resource Hog .
Now I am quite surprised......it is quite low on Resources .

It is a poweful Desktop Enviroment....lots of Configuration.....the more i use it ....the more i like it ......amazing !!

Good find fred .....good rediscovery ...
Now i am going to search the Net for some Eye Candy .....to pimp it up .

Btw.......does anybody know how to get a Volume Control to the Panel ?

For installed programs which are missing from menu, visit
/usr/share/applications
and use a text editor to inspect the launchers for the affected applications.
KDE (also gnome) often stupidly/selfishly distribute *.desktop launchers which unnecessarily contain a line stating:
OnlyShowIn=KDE

Trinity desktop environment is probably recognized as "Trinity" rather than as "KDE",
causing the menu builder and desktop manager components to suppress display of items marked OnlyShowIn=KDE

?terminal, which terminal emulator app is it? xfce4-terminal?
Possibly (I don't think so) its *.desktop file may contain the declaration "OnlyShowIn=Xfce"

If the above doesn't solve the issue, consider posting to refracta.freeforums.org forum to inquire.
Member "dzz" there is the maintainer of exegnulinux.net (another current debian+trinity distro).

Hi backi, zagreb,

@zagreb
I've tested the TDE network manager by installing package "network-manager-tde" (probably you mean that one)
TDE network manager works fine for me (but frisbee does also so I'll stick to it)

@backi
You can add symlink to volumeicon in ~/Startup:

Code: Select all

ln -s /usr/bin/volumeicon $HOME/Startup/volumeicon
And logout and back in.
First was a bit sceptical because they say KDE would be a Resource Hog .
Now I am quite surprised......it is quite low on Resources .
Yes, sure it is, KDE3 is OK but the later KDE versions are much heavier.
Now i am going to search the Net for some Eye Candy .....to pimp it up .
In Synaptic you can find also , e.g. tdeartwork and "twin-style-crystal-trinity" theme (or is called window-decoration) it's nice.

Hi Dogs,

Thread Closed
Discontinued, see here:
http://murga-linux.com/puppy/viewtopic. ... 694#946694

Edit: The thread that the above link points to doesn't exist anymore.
Short version of the story:
Using the name "DebianDog" (by me) caused so much trouble in general (and got me personally in such a stressful situation), that I finally gave up developing any further using that name.

Hi !
Maybe this Thread is closed .
But i don`t care .
What i want to say is ......
Smplayer is a fine Multimedia App .

Using Debian Dog 32
Formerly had Problems with playing Hd and Ultra Hd Videos in my single Core 1 gig Ram Machine........could solve this Problem :

installed mplayer2.......set in > Preferences>General>Multimedia Engine >/usr/bin/mplayer
since then all Hd and even Ultra Hd Videos are running light as a Feather .
:D :D :D

Regards !

Ok, well, then I don't care also, what was that name? DebianDuck I suppose? :D

off-topic:
At the moment I'm discovering some programming stuff, just for fun, and found out more about Bacon http://www.basic-converter.org/ for example the program that can do such crazy thing as above, I''l make .deb soon for "Dancing Letter Generator" and add link here.
Hopefully I manage someday to learn making Bacon programs, it's great!
vovchik is doing great work, see e.g. here:

EDIT Edit on first post:
Edit 2017-05-08: Development is discontinued, but re-opened for replies, why not :)
And removed [CLOSED] from first post subject title

Hi Fred.

In a effort to make puppies even smaller, some have taken to converting system .png icons/images to vector based .svg files and there are some tools around to aid that. See this thread for instance.

I've seen some pretty nice .svg icons with very small filesize.

ImageImageImage'Image___ ImageImageImageImageImage

Here's dancing-letters deb package attached (remove fake .gz)
It's not perfect though (but it's just a Demo), for example spaces don't work, a workaround is inserting some other character e.g. '___' see above.
Will appear in menu > Graphics, two versions: forum and HTML
HTML can be used also in E-Mail (insert HTML)
Screenshot here: http://www.basic-converter.org/dancing.jpg
Source here http://www.basic-converter.org/dancing.bac.html and here (HTML version by vovchik):
http://www.basic-converter.org/giftalk.bac.html

Also attached: deb package for "txt2svg", a great program by vovchik, see here:
http://murga-linux.com/puppy/viewtopic.php?t=110395
When there's a new version of txt2svg I will update here.

EDIT 10 May 2017: Since there is no libpangocairo dependency problem anymore (vovchik has fixed it) there's no need for a txt2svg deb, so attachment removed.
To run latest txt2svg on Debian/Ubuntu just dowload and unpack "tahr-32-bit-txt2svg.tar.gz" from http://murga-linux.com/puppy/viewtopic.php?t=110395 and run txt2svg binary

Have Fun!

Fred
