Is there such a thing as a "Christmas Pup"?

Hi all,

Have a crazy question: the family (and extended) have fallen in love using various Pups & pup-related distros.

Did, by crazy chance, anyone over the years ever develop a "Christmas Pup"? Like one that:

1) plays short, diff Xmas carols every time you open a program
2) at random intervals a sleigh with reindeer come slowly across the screen
3) at even more random intervals, snow starts falling on the screen
4) mistletoe appearing at the weirdest times
5) animated Snowman popping up with sayings
6) Rudolph's nose lighting up a corner of the screen
7) A Chritmas tree building from scratch to full lighting
8) etc, etc, etc.......

I realize this, I guess, would all be done via scripts. Unfortunately I am not gifted enough with scripting to write these. So, in the coming holiday spirit, I just wanted to put the question out there.

P.S. I have already gathered about ~100 screensavers with Xmas themes, and will use a timed screensaver to randomly flip thru them. I was justt wondering if there is something more beyond this. After all, we are the Puppy Universe, where everything is possible :D

Hello belham2.

That would be a fun project!

Former member Mark Ulrich (aka MU) published a very good "New Year's
Pup" 5-6 years ago. But since then, no themed Puppy like that!!!

No "Jingle woof, jingle woof, barking all the way!!!" Puppy. :D Sorry. :(

Here's some consolation, though. :)

@belham2. You could easily add Xmas themed wallpaper. As for entertainment, have you considered Flash-based (SWF) games? There are many seasonal ones - including a not very PC Christmas turkey shoot - fun, though  ! A quick search will soon reveal some offerings. The usual caveats apply, but try here: http://www.caiman.us/scripts/fw/fflash.html

Hi Musher,

As per another thread, since you anoited me new King of the Monarchy of the Land of McDonald Arches, I hereby decree as my first act as King to assign to you this 'Christmas Pup' project by converting your wonderful Puduan 6 into a glorious Woof-woof-jingle-all-the-way puppy.

I await to see if my monarch powers are for real :P

LOL!

At my age, if I don't start weeks in advance, the thing passes me right by and I'm left holding torn ribbons (and my head) on ~Jan 3rd wondering what happened, and what year is it now :?

Hello, Your Majesty Belham II. :)

I should have kept my mouth shut! :D
It can be a lot of work you know.
Give me a day to think about it.

Try Amipup provided here.
Puppy Moeppy or Barbie could fit too, but they are now vintage.

Problem with a Christmas Pup is you might be too busy to house train it...and then you'd have to buy Christmas Pup Pads.

On behalf of Ebenezer Scrooge I must point out that any Pup running vlc already
contains the perfectly adequate festive interface shown below.

With best wishes and "Bah! Humbug!"

xsnow 1.42-9 (ubuntu trusty multiverse) in puppy package manager adds a moving santa sleigh, trees, wind, falling snow and drifting effects.
It is nice to have on the desktop . . . until the novelty wears off.

That was not a very helpful comment.
Not in the spirit of christmas or as a useful addition to the thread.
I hope it gets removed by the moderator.
Thanks Moderator.

With each puppy you can change desktop icons and wall papers. But are they apps specific to Christmas, i don't believe.. Try Lucid Moeppy, perhaps, many functions are commented by a nice geisha voice, in japanese. Lot of fun (but the distro works nice)
2016 Puppy Melchior was first scheduled for Christmas. But realeased some days later.
