Hello.

Thanks, but include a little description please?

What breed of Puppy is it derived from? Slacko? TahPup? Another?

What version, too?

What programs have you added? What programs have you removed?

Etc.! :)

Libre office ? It's a Puppy for workers.

Libre office ? It's a Puppy for workers. Typists, accounters and business.
"GreenPUP Linux by is an open source operating system derived from Puppy Linux B. Kauler, specifically from puppy precise 5.7.1. It 'also lightweight and suitable for old-performing PC. It includes LibreOffice suite in Italian and other software not present in the original distro (conky, zsnes, themes and icons for ... wm)." around 375MB
Precise 5.7.1 is a good choice, IMO.
My thought : big applications should remain as SFS available in separate packages, when people have special need, professional needs, they will load the SFS.
Download will be done when my network better. ASAP.
Viva la Puppy de Italia .. For latin lovers. Opera is the browser (Vivaldi should have been a good choice too). "GreenPUP Linux è un sistema operativo open source derivato da Puppy Linux di B. Kauler, precisamente da puppy precise 5.7.1. E' leggero ed adatto anche a vecchi pc poco performanti. Comprende la suite LibreOffice in italiano e altro software non presente nella distro originale" :) No need to install fr language pack !

the second choice for the user (pae) is a clonation of the system in italian made by murga ( http://www.murga-linux.com/puppy/viewtopic.php?t=94195 )
i have added only the new programs: zsnes office, conky, themes...
very thanks for the translation !

@Pelo

As far as I know, packages like LibreOffice, OpenOffice, some Bowsers and other stuff very often is placed at /opt in Puppy. It's quite easy to get LibreOffice out of the main sfs (don't forget the .desktop files in /usr/share/applications) and to create your own .sfs module. Just remaster the main sfs (either by script or manually) after removing LibreOffice from /opt.

Nevertheless, you must download it before trash.

Some burn Big ISOs, wasting time for useless office suite, after having worked all the week for their boss, with ... Microsoft Office.

Better is that the Puppy-maker offer two versions to people, one big for people needing office applications, and one light with Abiword and Gnumeric for homeworks.
I can bet that Gnumeric will do better than Calc...

Gotcha! Ha!

Wouldn't this being a very nice and kind task to do?

Done by you, Pelo the passenger?

Doing some favourite things to other passengers, to less experienced passengers?

Downloading such big Puppies, removal of those big packages like LibreOffice and re-uploading the smaller versions, that are not published by the original creators?

The one big step forward?

So to say: Pelo, the passenger who facilitates the travels of other passengers!

Modules are the future, aren't they, RSH ?

#19 Post by Pelo »

If ever i would upload One of my Pupplets for public release, i would engage to answer users questions about it.. And a puplet must be creative, not only a copy (plus icons, less Libre Office) , that is not easy for me

RSH... or Lazy Puppy my opinion is to keep Puppies around 150MB with everyday software, and get professionnal software as separate SFS.
Modules are the future, aren't they, RSH ?

Deeper thought : having worked a lot with Musher0 about Business apps i am now quite sure that Puppy users hate office jobs with their computers. No one user ever tried one of wonderfull apps provided (excepted me)
Just install, the technician leave, and let die...

At work, at end of the month, each chief had to fullfill an activity report for the HDQ head quaters. Do you believe they use Puppy at home to finalize that job ???
