i am running a MacOs Sierra 10.12.2 on a MacBook Pro (13-inch, Mid 2012)
2.5 GHz Intel Core i5 - 8 GB 1600 MHz DDR3

I used virtual box Version 5.0.30 r112061 to run 64bit windows 10 so i can
install Lucid Puppy 5.2.8 on a 2.0 8gb flash drive with Universal USB installer 1.9.7.0
All this to able to boot a Dell inspiron 15-5548 to maybe recover some files from the HDD. everything worked up until it booted. It becomes unresponsive a few seconds after the "personalize settings" with the welcome to Lucid 528 appears. the mouse does not work and wtv key i press does not work either.

i appreciate any help, thank you

Dell Inspiron 15 5548 - 15.6" - Core i7 5500U - 8 GB RAM - 1 TB HDD

If this is the computers specs, you need to try using a newer Puppy version, that has support for the hardware.
Tahrpup 6.0.5
Xenialpup64
Xenialpup CE 7.0.4

Welcome to Puppy glasgo.

I still love Lucid but do as bigpup suggests....
try another Puppy.

And when you successfully boot up.....
always use copy....Not Move to recover your files.
Most important.

Some hints.

Look through all the User settings
For bookmarks, old email, docs pics etc.
Also look in the root directory.

It never ceases to astound me where files end up.
