Click on Puppy.

This will increase the page hits for Puppy and move it up the list.

You may find information you did not know about Puppy.

This page hit ranking is directly the result of how many times a day the specific Linux operating system is looked at.

Yeah... like the release frequency shown bellow which may explain current ranking... No new release the last 14 months according to DW (which is accurate if you do not count updates)
Maybe is a mistake to release updates as point releases instead of minor releases.

Probably a coincidence, but who knows:

Since we started the newsletter, Puppy went up two ranks on DW, from
24 to 22, and the arrow is now pointing up. As if the simple fact of
publishing a newsletter had by itself reversed the trend.

As to DW's understanding of Puppy, maybe a senior member here will
have to explain to Jesse and colleagues that Puppy is a "solar system"
(with many "planets") rather than a regular distro? And that their ranking
based on a single "Puppy planet" is unfair?

Not that we'd want to pass on DW's bad side.

I remember DW initially described BarryK's first "woofed" Pup as a simple
ubuntu derivative -- until a few days later, when Mick Amadio got mad
and sent them the first "woofed" slackware-compatible Pup -- with a
mouthful, too.

So DW's misunderstanding of Puppy goes back a few years. DW doesn't
take the Puppy concept into account, they consider just the resulting distro.

The puppy newsletter is an excellent effort, but I'm afraid can not affect DW ranking.

Regarding DW mistakes, there are many. Bias? I'm not so sure.
As the title of the site suggests, people go to DW mostly to check for new distribution versions, and click on what is appealing from the available new versions. If there are no new versions people may click on a "promising/appealing" distro to check if they've missed something. After a 6 months or year without a new (with DW standards) release is likely to lose interest, stop bothering and ranking plummets.
So when it comes to DW, the rule is simple: "publish or perish"

The real question is why is more than a year without a new version.
I guess what happened to puppy is that elevating in the ranks brought more people in, but then they stared pulling it all over the place and nowhere fast or effectively, thus the reversal.
That's OK I would guess. People are here for the fun of it, not the ratings.

Is 478 the amount of people who clicked on the Puppy part of their website? If so, bringing Puppy to #1 seems like it might be quite easy. I agree that DW does not understand puppy, what with Tahrpup 6.0.5 and Slacko 6.3.2 out and everything, and how they how they list it like "only one distro evolving over time" thing. I guess their site has one format for all Linuxes.

I think you hit the problem.
Distrowatch needs to be notified when a minor release is done.

I am not sure who really has the power to do that.
I assume it is the Puppy version developer

Notice they still list Tahrpup as version 6.0.
It should be 6.0.6

I see nothing on Distrowatch about the 64 bit Puppies.
