lshw-B.02.18 for slacko-6.* and same level recent Pups

#1 Post by musher0 »

Hello all.

Please find attached the most recent (as of this writing) CLI version
of the lshw hardware lister utility.

Edit:
As the title indicates, this is for recent Pups: slacko-6, tahrpup-6 and
the like. I compiled it on Slim-Slacko-6, which has a glibc of 2.17.
This utility will not run on Puppies with lesser C libraries. To know
which version of the C libraries your Pup is running on, please type:

Code: Select all

ldd --version
To reconstitute this pet archive in order to install it,
-- go to the dir. where you downloaded the files below,
-- open a terminal and type

Code: Select all

mv lshw-B.02.18_exec.pet-01.gz lshw-B.02.18_exec.pet-01
mv lshw-B.02.18_exec.pet-02.gz lshw-B.02.18_exec.pet-02
cat shw-B.02.18_exec.pet-0?
(or copy and paste the above commands in your terminal).
Then install the pet as usual by double-clicking on it.

The source code is here:

The description, here:

To generate a short report of your hardware, you'd type

Code: Select all

lshw -short
I know that most Puppies have the hardinfo utility, but sometimes
a "short and sweet" report is what we're really after.

For an overview of lshw parameters, please type

Code: Select all

man lshw
or

Code: Select all

lshw --help
To see what it does in context, please do a search on lshw in this forum:
we have 4-5 threads about it. lshw also has a wikipedia article.

Enjoy!
