full screen magnification

#1 Post by John OC »

Hi, I have configured Puppy 525 as a bit of a media server/PC combo, to run on a Samsung
Flat screen TV. I need to view this screen from 10 feet back, (couch potato style)and would like virtual full screen magnification to 120% and for the mouse to follow the screen as does the Windows 7 magnifier tool.(no horizontal or vertical window adjust tabs). -
I know this exists in Linux, I had a similar setup on a red hat box a few years ago and it worked great for spreadsheets.-- Zoom and No squint only magnify the browser window.
Can I accomplish what I want through Xorg settings?
Thanks
John
(PS Puppy is fantastic.......)

Thanks Lobster, I have used VMG, but it seems to just magnify a window over the mouse
and when I made that VMG window full screen size it would crash. Not sure why. I did find
a Ubuntu Wiki on panning viewport modes using xrandr ...This gave a larger (magnified) virtual screen with larger fonts in the search engine search and tool bars so I can couch surf now without the binoculars! ;-)
