Namebench is cross-platform.

Linux needs Python 2.4-2.6 & python-tk installed for GUI.

From folder where you have extracted zip, you open a terminal window and type :

./namebench.py

A GUI will help you find fastest nameservers (DNS servers).

When you have frequent Page Not Found, you may be better looking for other nameservers to replace what is provided by your ISP, either the service is bad, or you suffer from censorship.

After checking options if needed, you start benchmark. It takes a while to complete. You have plenty of time to do other work (or watch Curb Your Enthusiasm).

Next step is use the result provided by Namebench. You can use NetworkManager to make change. Or change settings on your resolve.conf file (/etc/resolve.conf).
