Screencaster in Fatdog 710 soundcard setting

The file output crashes for me if set to anything other than hw:0,0
all other apps find my usb mic at hw:1,0
is there a config file somewhere for this? a bug?
I use recordmydesktop from the command line and it works
but the process is inexact and the output requires a lot of postprocessing...might i remove and recompile screencaster? btw I matched the capture parameters to the card so it ought to work...
