using alternative DNS servers in countries implementing domain name based censoring systems.

Here is another list of DNS servers, this time by WikiLeaks, which is known to leak government's secret documents, helping shed a light on shady deals.

Changing your resolv.conf settings is easy, use geany provided by your Puppy or Dog-based OS, and add one or more DNS nameservers.

In terminal :

geany /etc/resolv.conf.head

Add whatever public dns nameserver provided by WikiLeaks (German Privacy Fondation is a good choice).

The first entry is your primary dns server, followed by a second or a third entry (it's up to you, acting as backups).

Then reboot.

After a reboot, your resolv.conf file will rank all your public dns nameservers in your selected order.

If curious about dns leak, go to dns leak test website : https://www.dnsleaktest.com/
do a standard test, and you should see your first public dns nameserver entry there, instead of your ISP one.

It is legal to switch to a public dns server, your ISP is only providing its dns servers for convenience, with network surveillance, that is why you received that ominous legal notice from last time you downloaded that torrent...
