How to listen to streamed mp4? (Solved itself)

Hello
I am running tahr605 frugal on a dell vostro1320 and would like to play mp4 streams. I cant get vlc to work even with mods so wondered if there was any other player for mp4 streams.

I don't know what I did but vlc is now working, so not needed.
It will remain a mystery to me.
