Precise is the latest version of Puppy that runs without performance or glitchy annoyances on my old Aspire One. Tahr will run on this machine but gets the hiccups often enough to be annoying.
I also run Vivaldi browser, but I'm stuck at v1,4 because of what seems to be a certificate problem.
If I install any later versions of Vivaldi, I end up with the following error on attempting to load various sites, including google.com & bing.com.
Code: Select all
Attackers might be trying to steal your information from outlook.live.com (for example, passwords, messages, or credit cards). NET::ERR_CERT_WEAK_SIGNATURE_ALGORITHM
Code: Select all
You cannot visit www.google.com right now because the website uses HSTS.
Firefox 51 runs all these sites without error, though!
So far as I can understand, the problem is enacted because later versions of the Chrome engine and the existing certificates stored in my Precise are incompatible ( I have ca-certificates_20160104ubuntu0.12.04.1 installed)
(although this doesn't explain how FIrefox, also presumably running a later Chrome engine, doesn't show the problem)
Running Tahr on the same machine, later versions of Vivaldi run without problems.
Any suggestions?
thanks
