could anyone help with a quick usb boot question? i don't get the immediate puppy text screen at the start .. to allow me to enter boot options? any ideas? i set-up the usb stick with the universal installer.
the iso burnt to cd gives the puppy screen to enter boot options, but when the usb stick is created and puppy is booted, it immedately just starts booting.

I am not entirely sure of this, but it's quite probable that if you were to add additional boot options to your syslinux.cfg file (in the root directory of your pen drive), you would get a boot menu. Try adding additional options with labels and different boot params than your boot up.
I don't have time right now to check myself, but a guide to adjusting syslinux.cfg is available here. Tell us how things work out.
By the way a good model to look at is the isolinux.cfg file on the CD itself as an example.
