Normally I can go from 800MHz to 1.86GHz on my laptop, and when I turn speestep off, it stays at 798MHz.

Today, however, something new happened. When I turned off Speedstep, CPU Frequency tool said I was running at 600MHz. I went to see what higher "steps" were available, if any, and found out that the steps I could pick from were actually lower, all the way down to 75MHz (screenshots attached). I did some benchmarks, and it does seem like it really is running at 75MHz. The Hardinfo benchmarks took like an hour, whereas they only took about 10 minutes at 600MHz. Here were my scores:

Code:
CPU Blowfish
75 MHz   700.382
600 MHz   53.651
800 MHz   51.263
1867 MHz   20.538

CPU CryptoHash
75 MHz   1.845
600 MHz   19.291
800 MHz   24.946
1867 MHz   62.633

CPU Fibonacci
75 MHz   187.293
600 MHz   22.416
800 MHz   13.909
1867 MHz   5.550

CPU N-Queens
75 MHz   434.610
600 MHz   33.641
800 MHz   32.354
1867 MHz   12.869

FPU FFT
75 MHz   330.368
600 MHz   26.143
800 MHz   24.423
1867 MHz   10.036

FPU Raytracing
75 MHz   840.592
600 MHz   70.140
800 MHz   65.929
1867 MHz   26.421

GPU Drawing
75 MHz   159.092
600 MHz   1723.059
800 MHz   1807.372
1867 MHz   3423.191

To make sure it wasn't a fluke, I turned off my laptop and let it cool down for an hour, then tried in Slacko 5.7.1 again (kernel 3.16.44), then tried in the official Slacko 6.9.9.9 (kernel 3.16.43), and puduan-7 (kernel 4.4.74), and they all let me access the 75MHz-600MHz range (instead of just 800MHz+) when Speedstep was off. Has anyone else ever seen anything like this? Very Happy
