Bonjour,
(This can be done manually but it's not what I want.)
I built an USB stick in which I would have liked to put some folders as "my-documents", "Downloads" (especially for pets and sfs files, pictures, etc,,, downloaded by user), hidden files like .wine, .mozilla and so on, directly at the root of the key. So Puppy would find them via symbolic links directly integrated to the main sfs file whatever the 'pupsave' loaded, this to prevent the "pupsave" files to grow and grow apart.
Don't know if my question is understandable
Thanks for you attention.
Cordialement.

Folders like my-documents in root will still be part of the savefile. The only way to prevent your savefile from growing is not to add anything to /. Things you can do - don't install stuff, use sfs-addons instead; symlink folder/files to your drive (outside the savefile); do not save personal files under /.

Hallo, Argolance.
While I freely admit that I don't know very much about the 'automation' side of things, it seems to me that your best plan would be to place your data folders (like 'my-documents', 'Downloads', etc) in /mnt/home.
Then, you could add a small script, either to /root/Startup, or /etc/init.d, to sym-link those folders into /root. This way, they would be sym-linked into /root (and available) as part of the boot process. At the same time, of course, they won't make the 'pupsave' grow at all.
Sound feasible?
Mike.
