Subject description: dvd

Hi All,
Is there a puppy, or failing that any other Linux that will automaticly play a DVD or CD when it is put in as Windows does?
The ones I am familiar with (Various Puppies, Mint, MX) need to be told what to do. The reason I am asking is I am expected to help out at a pop-up op shop. I have a reasonable laptop which has no hard drive, and want to install something to a USB stick and leave it there.
There is no problem when I will be there, but I want to leave it so anyone can use it.
Thanks, John
