Pdf editor/printer for Puppy 5.2.7?

#1 Post by don922 »

I am using puppy5.2.7_3HD which is old but serves me well.

I have to fill out a form which I downloaded as a pdf. The form is only available to me as a pdf.

I have to fill in this form and print it out. I tried to do this with Pdfedit-0.4.3-Lucid, but I can't seem to get this program to work.

Is there any other program that I can use to fill out and print this form. There must be something that will work better for me than Pdfedit!

Get the latest version of PeasyPDF.

On page 5, there is a PET for Xournal. It can be used as a PDF annotating tool.

If this works in your old Puppy, you can fill in the form, then print it with the PeasyPDF Print function.

I did a quick test in Lupu 528 and it needs a symlink:

Code: Select all

cd /usr/lib
ln -sf libpoppler-glib.so.4.0.0 libpoppler-glib.so.8

There also is master-pdf-editor. It requires qt4. An old version working in lucid was sent to you by PM. Geoffrey's links are no longer working.

EDIT: yesterday Geoffrey's links were not working. Now I see they work:

I have installed PeasyPDF and Xournal.

I used Xournal to fill out the form I needed. It was easy and worked well.

I have tried to use PeasyPDF to print the form, but I can't get it to print. I am using a HP Deskjet 1010 Printer.

Can you recommend a different Puppy that I can get PeasyPDF and Xournal to work on?

More details please.

1. Does your printer work with other documents?

2. Does it work with other PDF files?

3. If you load your PDF into Lupu's PDF viewer program, will it print from there?

Just to be clear: After filling in the form, you used File > Export to PDF.

Also, Xournal has its own Print function. Did you try to print from there?

1. The printer works with other documents.

2. The printer doesn't work with any PDF files.

3. Will not print from ePDFView.

The form I was working with is a PDF-- so no need to "Export to PDF"

I tried but, I could not print from Xournal.

The quoted post (above) is not helpful -- it is just rude and a waste of time.

Sorry you feel that way. I have other suggestions, but I will let you resolve the problem on your own.

Don, what rcrsn said was meant as a gentle nudge. He's trying to help. What you said was rude. I don't blame him for cutting you loose. Don't be so touchy and easily offended. :)
