You need to be specific about what Firefox you are using!!!!!
If you did this, as you reported in earlier post:
That Firefox will need the sound fix applied.
Fix audio in Firefox 52 without having to install PulseAudio.

I install Firefox with PPM and it was outdated so I downloaded the

delta '11'
As with all previous versions, sound and video problems persist in delta-'11', everything else working well (so far), nice work peebee!
FYI: Ubuntu is not planning any LTS (long term support) for Zesty so it may end up like Vivid did with little or no help from them, Puppy may well be on its own with Zesty.
>>>---Indian------>
Edit: While I was thinking there was a problem with Zesty '11' (mentioned above) I booted some other puppy builds only to find that the same audio and video problems were happening to them also... of course my first reaction was to blame Zesty for messing up the audio & video on my entire computer because of course, I tried all the alsa configurations, rebooted the computer a few times and still the same problem. After awhile I decided to to completly shut down my system... 'everything' including power to the modem.
After a new restart and new modem boot up and it re-config'd itself I tried my regular everyday puppy and it was back to normal again so.... back in went Zesty '11' and it also now works (audio & video) like a charm!
What happened to screw things up in the beginning??? Maybe a modem virus? or I was hacked? was it in fact something in Zesty creating the problem? I just don't know... I will keep testing to see if it happens again.

Hi,

-unable to set scaling using either 0.8x or 1.2.

Fresh frugal install.
menu>Desktop>JWMDesk manager>Options>Global Themes
Selecting a different global theme removes tray 2 from the desktop.
Getting it back seems to be a hard thing to accomplish.
Still unable to get it completely back to original condition.
JWMDesk manager>Desktop>Puppy Setup>Desktop>Tray
This allows you to make a tray 2 and place it at top of desktop, but you have to configure it to try and get the tray back to having the same original buttons.

I had the same problems as you, Bigpup, with tray 2 and global themes.
Also, I noticed another thing: what happens when you try to use the tray 1, and right-clicking the 'network icon' and selecting "Disconnect from the Network?" Doing it here on my 17.10.11 'frgual' install does nothing--it stays connected to the Internet and that "Dsconnect..." is non-functional.

Re: Cpu Frequency Scaling tool not working
The intel pstate is enabled in this kernel. If you have intel hardware it takes precedence over acpi_cpufreq and won't let you set a governor using the acpi_cpufreq driver. You can passjosepinto wrote:Hi,

Thanks,
Code: Select all

Pups currently in kennel :D Older LxPupSc and X-slacko-4.4 for my users; LxPupSc, LxPupSc64 and upupEF for me. All good pups indeed, and all running savefiles for look'n'feel only. Browsers, etc. solely from SFS.
Update to my above post about selecting a global theme and tray 2 disappears.
JWMDesk Manager>Options>Accessory Tray
This gets the tray 2 back on the desktop.
Check Launch Bar
Select a number of preset buttons.
12 seems to get it back to original. Well, close to original.
Select apply.

I have done a second attempt to let jwm_config /pTheme support jwm 2.3.7
JwmDesk has some issues with global theming, but it made me realize how to make jwm_config support BOTH jwm 2.3.2 and 2.3.7. Now, there is only one package of jwm_config (none version specific) in woof. Hopefully we succeed with this solution which will make it all simpler to maintain.
I have also updated 01micko's global themes in woof to support jwm 2.3.7.
NOTE! they are all still compatible with jwm 2.3.2

ZestyPup - Beta build
I installed Palemoon by downloading, unpacking and running pminstaller-0.2.3.tar.bz2.
If I put it on the JWMDesk bottom tray it won't start because of the %u at the end of the palemoon command,I haven't found a way to fix that but it I start palemoon with gexec it runs as spot with no problem.
Palemoon plays sound at the local news site and youtube.

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE read post #1 ..... I repeat:
Light is a lightweight browser and should be replaced by a heavyweight browser of your choice (Firefox and Chromium are available as sfs) for serious video watching.

guilty for garbled audio with youtube.
about Light easy to check if this browser is guilty for garbled audio with youtube. Test it on different Puppy.
Choose Palemoon instead included in the ISO if LIGHT is useless, at least untill troubles solved..
I bet Light is not guilty.. Yet used and youtube was working well. Peebee what give a test in your computer ?
Nowadays the browser is the essential tool for Computer owner, after connectivity of course.. Desktop icons or JWM version are final settings. Icon missing will not prevent to play Puppy.. Be Lucid...
light-49.0.linux-i686_6.sfs: 24 M loaded on tahrpup 6.0.5. You tube audio is perfect But Icon is missing . My god, icon missing..
Apulse pet to install (same as Firefox)

Re: delta '11'
I had the same thought. I now believe it's the newer kernels. Unless I power down (unplug) my intel box acts like a reboot with the effect that some things like the modem (eth0) hang, loss of sound coming out of suspend, etc. Very confusing. Didn't use to happen.sszindian wrote:What happened to screw things up in the beginning??? Maybe a modem virus? or I was hacked? was it in fact something in Zesty creating the problem? As for the new jwm, the problem is the new syntax in xml. Hence the problem with older themes. A tedious but not difficult task to rewrite the old themes with the modern syntax. v2.37 works fine with JWMDesk in JL64, but I removed pthemes. Ignore "global themes" and everything works fine. That is with the old gtkchtheme - the old-fashioned way.

peebee,
Give us some time to test stuff before you put out a new update.
Let us work it and try to uncover stuff.
Zestypup is usable at this time, just not final release.

ZestyPup-17.10.11
Minor bug.
PupControl>Desktop>Desktop Wallpaper
Nothing happens when clicked on.
In the PupControl preferences>Basic Apps>
Wallpaper: was blank.
Set it to wallpaper
PupControl>Desktop>Desktop Wallpaper now working.
Probably need some other settings made in preferences.
A lot of blank spaces with no selected programs to use.
A lot to test in that PupControl.

I find that having tray1 setting to left instead of center works well
when several applications are open at the same time.
Tray2 at the top of the screen is set to autohide.

AUDIO : You Tube garbled. Solved with apulse-0.1.10-i686-wz.pet: 37 K
Non Need to change Light, not for garbled audio. Thanks a lot for icon now in the menu.. Icons are very useful when you don't understand texts in menu. With icons you can easily use non US puppies as zesty japanese version.
same solution for Firefox, Bigpup
This Zest pup version is very slow.. Kernel has been changed.
