I don't think it is a graphics card issue, but install mesa-utils and then from a terminal window run "glxgears -info". Do the gears work? What does it say about what graphics driver is running? |
Just installed mesa-utils 8.3.0-3.
Ran glxgears -info.
Yes I see the 3 colored gears and they are spinning smoothly.
Here's the output:
Code: | root@live:~# glxgears -info
Running synchronized to the vertical refresh. The framerate should be
approximately the same as the monitor refresh rate.

See attachment.
It's a screenshot from Firefox "troubleshooting information" page.
Could it be related to the Street View click-dragging problem?

Does the opengl aquarium work? How many frame per second do you get?
https://webglsamples.org/aquarium/aquarium.html
I still think it is a browser thing. Try one of Fred's portable firefoxes.

About 2 frames per second using firefox 68.5.0-esr1~deb9u1 and Chromium 73
How quickly are security patches updated in Fred's portable firefoxes.

2 frames a second is really awful. That's a symptom of your issue anyway.
Fred's portables update from Mozilla as soon as the updates come out. Much sooner than the Debian repos.

You can hide the warning by adding --disable-infobars, so then:
Code: | chromium --no-sandbox --disable-infobars |
To get back to root from logged in as puppy:
Exit X, then type on console:

About firefox, I have a built in video card too and checking with opengl aquarium I get 6 fps, not so good.
Compared firefox-esr version 68 with newest version 73 (portable) and makes no difference for me (still 6 fps).
(google streetview with firefox is usable for me, but slow)

I just installed Palemoon 28.3.1 and it works flawlessly for StreetView cllck&drag.
It's my understanding Palemoon uses the Firefox code base.
So I'm wondering why Firefox does not work properly.

Palemoon still uses the Gecko engine, firefox not anymore, since "Quantum".

The file to modify is /etc/inittab, find the line:
Code: | 1:2345:respawn:/bin/login -f root tty6 </dev/tty1 >/dev/tty1 2>&1 |
And change root to puppy:
Code: | 1:2345:respawn:/bin/login -f puppy tty6 </dev/tty1 >/dev/tty1 2>&1 |

I changed "root" to "puppy" in that line, rebooted, and got the attached error message, and things stopped at that point.
Sorry for the fuzzy graphic, I took pic w/ phone camera.
