[xenialpup64-7.5] VirtualBox Guest installieren

#1 Post by Sabaton »

Hallo,

make utility
gcc utility
haeder for the current running kernel

http://distro.ibiblio.org/puppylinux/puppy-xenial/64/devx_xenialpup64_7.5.sfs

---------------------------

These packages are part of the devX package.

Once you download it, then right-click on it and select, "loads-sfs". Forgive my German, I'm using google translate.

Hallo,

Hostschlüssel-i

Code: Select all

/usr/bin/VBoxClient --clipboard
/usr/bin/VBoxClient --display
/usr/bin/VBoxClient --seamless
in .xinitrc nach der Zeile. /etc/rc.d/BOOTCONFIG.

Siehe Beitrag:

If for some reason you desktop still isn't working and your very brave you can try troubleshooting on the command line. On tahrpup the command line text editor is called minimum profit. Another alternative which I haven't tried is to remote into to the desktop with something like "x over ssh" or VNC to do the troubleshooting.

The console editor on tahrpup is called, "Minimum profit" which I believe you start with the command "mp" followed by the path to the text file that you want to edit.

Note that when installing the guest additions make sure that the kernal source matches the kernal of tharpup. You can get the kernal version with the "uname -a" command.

Finally, while my above hacks work very well for me it still is a hack and not as seamless as it could be. Fatdog64 710 works better as a virtualbox guest. You may want to also consider trying a different virtual machine. I use vitualbox with tarhpup out of habit but other members here may use qemu or vmware instead.

I think the issue here is a bit of a chicken and egg problem. The guest additions don't seem to initialize everything properly without the x-window server but the xwindow server won't work well without guest additions installed. Perhaps there is some things in the .xinitrc script that we should re-initialize after mouse integration is turned on. Another alternative is to mess with the xorg configuration scripts. I saw some suggestions online but it will take some trial and error.

Another thing that may be helpful in a worst case scenario is knowing how to install packages from the command line. The command to install a package is "petget" followed by the path to the package. The command to remove the package is "petget -packagename". You can create a package from a directory using the dir2pet. If you have a working version of tharpup you can download a package from the package manager rather than installing it or alternatively you can find the package (aka pet) online. Both deb and pet files will work as package formats for tharpup.

Hallo,

Setup -> Graphics/Screen -> Xrandr -> 1920x975
