Hello @festus

thank you for master-pdf-editor SFS.

64 bit version is working in Slacko64 700 RC3 too.
First tests without problems.
Needed dependencies are present by default expect Qt5 of course.

Used for test

Hi Festus.

Thanks for this much-needed application.

On my xenialPup32-7.0.6, I get these missing libs:
[/opt/master-pdf-editor-4.3.61]>ldd masterpdfeditor4 | grep not
libQtSvg.so.4 => not found
libQtGui.so.4 => not found
libQtNetwork.so.4 => not found
libQtCore.so.4 => not found
I'm on the hunt!

Don't we have a ready-made Qt4 package available for Puppy?

I'll keep you posted.

BFN.

libQt5 - where to find it for lucid and tahr puppies?

#7 Post by sindi »

youtube just broke again. smtube 15 and 17 do not work (nor does Pale Moon with Youtube).

smtube 18 (for Ubuntu 14) or later needs several libQt5*.

Are these available for ubuntu 14 or for any Puppy besides Xenial and Slacko? (Slacko does not work on all my computer screens and it needs too much memory).

I have it running on a freshly built Bionic 18.05 with a kernel 4.16.12 (i686)

I had to use the PPM to add libqt4-svg to get it run.

Thanks for keeping this updated!

Something that has been needed for some time for Puppy.
The things they do not tell you, are usually the clue to solving the problem.
When I was a kid I wanted to be older.... This is not what I expected :shock:

working - LxPupSC64 18.06+9 kernel 4.18.13 – frugal

festus MasterPDFEditor-5.0.36_qt4-amd64.sfs
+
distro.ibiblio.org/puppylinux/pet_packages-slacko6414/qt-4.8.2-x86_64.sfs

ListDD revealed:
libpng14.so.14 => not found
libpng14.so.14 (PNG14_0) => not found

harvested ONE file from: aaa_elflibs-14.2-x86_64-23.txz (PPM)
Don’t install the whole thing.

extracted/copied: usr/lib64/libpng14.so.14.18.0
to savefile/folder: usr/lib64
create symlink for libpng14.so.14.18.0 then renamed it libpng14.so.14

(There are likely better ways to go about this but it works for me.)

Many thanks festus… very much appreciated… nice to have easy access to this program again.

Your MasterPDFEditor-5.0.36-i586.sfs tested and working in upupcc 18.10 beta1 using the qt4-4.8.7_slacko-7.0.sfs. All libraries check ok using ldd. This is a Grub4Dos frugal install on an all intel i5 based Fujitsu S761 laptop. I don't often need MasterPDFEditor, but when nothing else works, it does.

Thanks festus!
Pups currently in kennel :D Older LxPupSc and X-slacko-4.4 for my users; LxPupSc, LxPupSc64 and upupEF for me. All good pups indeed, and all running savefiles for look'n'feel only. Browsers, etc. solely from SFS.

I have downloaded and run Master PDF Editor in xenial64-7.5. All seems to have worked ok, I can see its entry in the Menu > Documents. But it doesn't seem open when called from menu. Any suggestions as to what might be missing or I've overlooked please?

look for the .desktop file in /usr/share/applications that starts the editor from the menu. look at what the "exec" line has for starting the editor. make sure the path matches.

Thanks for the suggestion rockedge but there seems to be no .desktop files in usr/share/applications.

LeithR, I'm running the exact same with the devx and compatibility libs (Quickpet/Useful) loaded. She launches without a hitch.
