Logitech Wingman 'Precision' Gamepad [SOLVED] Subject description: Is there a Linux driver available? |
|
Hello Puppy Gamers,
I was given a Logitech USB WingMan 'precision' gamepad in good condition.
Does anyone know if there is a Linux driver for this unit?
The box says it's Mac compatible.
I plug it into an HP HDX premium series machine running Tahrpup64.6.0.5, but, I get no icon showing that the systems recognized the unit.
I tried it out on Frozen Bubble.
I get no response from the unit.
Thank you in advance for any suggestions.

If PupScan sees it, what's it say?
Maybe unplug it, run "modprobe adi" and replug. Anything?
Hmm, maybe you need to search for and install the "joystick" and, or "jstest-gtk" packages?

matchpoint,
Thank you for the tip.

Ran a system search for 'modprobe adi'. No such critter in Tahrpup64.6.0.5.
However, there is 'joystick'. I'm looking at the app now although it doesn't look like it covers Wingman.
I'll take one more crack at it then decide what to do.

You don't search modprobe adi, you open a terminal an "run it!"
Didn't PupScan have a report? I'm sure it "sees" your controller.
As for jstest-gtk, well, not having many dependencies, it wouldn't hurt to install it.

Pupscan:
Manufacturer=Logitech
Product=WingMan Precision USB
VendorID=046d ProductID=c20c KERNEL-DRIVER(builtin)=usbhid
modprobe adi
What is a terminal code to 'run' modprobe adi? Or, is there a GUI box I can use?

Quick to toss in the towel, are we? What you posted refers to Windows software. I doubt your controller requires joydev and why I suggested adi, and adi triggers gameport, which may or may not be needed. If you load things in the order I described, you'd have a possibe js* device node in /dev/input, and maybe a response from that controller of yours.
