The Debian-Stretch-Live Starter Kit
Hi Bill, from time to time I did upgrade the dropboxgui package (from 1.0.1 to 1.0.7) and as far as I can remember the latest has the fix for filenames that contain spaces already.
(but please correct me if I'm wrong)
EDIT: Also v1.0.7 has improvement for better view when maximized.
See: https://fredx181.github.io/StretchDog/i ... ges/Extra/
EDIT: But more than welcome of course if you have any more improvements, then should become version 1.0.8
Fred

This is an old Toshiba NB510 netbook with an Atom N2600 CPU, 2GB RAM and a 128GB SSD. The 1024x600 video uses the gma500 kernel module and the Xorg i915 modesetting driver.
As a Win7-era machine, it isn't a lot faster than its XP predecessors, but the SSD makes it MUCH quieter and energy-efficient.
Everything works OOTB, including the RTL8188CE WiFi, HDMI port and card reader.
Palemoon 27 used to play Youtube video, but something changed recently and it quit. By chance, I discovered that some gstreamer plugins had the missing stuff. So I bundled them into a squashfs module. Now Youtube works again.

New releases of the Starter Kit with kernel 4.9.0-7 are posted above. Many other packages are also updated.
For Broadcom WiFi users, I have packages for the wl driver. Just ask.

How to make a 64bit squashfs module for Downline
Downline is a front-end for the youtube-dl video download app.
1. Get the tarball from here.
2. Extract it with unzipper. Rename the new "linux-unpacked" folder as "downline".
3. Get the .deb package attached below.
4. Run: repo2sfs downline_1.2.0_amd64.deb
5. At Pause B, go to /tmp/repo2sfs.
6. Open the "opt" folder. Drop in the "downline" folder from Step 2.
7. Finish the build.
8. Look for Downline in the Internet menu.
Hints:
a. Open the Downline Settings screen (the gear icon). Set the Download Location to something like /root/Downloads.
b. When getting a hi-res video, select a lower resolution, like 480.
c. PeasyMP3 (from Fred's repo) is a simple player for these video clips.

ImageSlicer slices a graphics file into sections so you can print it across multiple pages.
The default output format for the slices is PNM, which is the fastest for printing with PeasyPrint v3.1.
Look for ImageSlicer in the Graphics menu.

How to make a squashfs module for GnuCash
This is a standard build from the Debian repo using repo2sfs and looks stable.

Yes, I'm in Puppy and am using some of the peasy music/optical stuff. Just assuming they are already outdated...rcrsn51 wrote:No. But thanks for the test report.ITSMERSH wrote:This "Peasy" stuff seems to be pretty useful. Is there something like a Peasy Suite that combines all those useful programs, to just have to install a single .pet or to use it from a single .sfs?
And the Starter Kit doesn't use PETs.
Probably a "Peasy" page where to find links to all that stuff (for the easiness of search)?
Here is PeasyGlue v2.2. It can now save a glue job in the raw PNM format.
This is useful if your project has several steps. It's faster to save the intermediate steps as PNM.

How to clear the GTK FileChooser Recently Used list
I am posting this because I always forget how to do it myself.
1. Paste the following line into a terminal:
2. Reboot.
3. Start an app and open the FileChooser screen.
4. Select a file/folder. Now the list should reset. Repeat if necessary.

I found some places where Snappie didn't work, so I built packages for jamesbond's xscreenshot tool from here.
It installs into the Graphics menu.
There are no prompts - if you want to snap a window, you must open it first. Clicking elsewhere snaps the full screen. The snaps are stored in /root.
To take a snap with the menus open, run xscreenshot from a terminal
Read the instructions about the different key combinations.
