Maybe try peebee's Upup-Bionic-Beaver, it is probably the most "bleeding edge" and could use more testers

Before installing any PLIC installer on Windows 8, please make sure you have:
1) disabled fast boot
2) disabled secure boot
3) changed UEFI to legacy mode

You can find detailed instructions on how to do each online.

This includes a few cleanup items, as well as a new feature: support for systems that only boot /EFI/Boot/bootx64.efi. To use this, open the Help menu and go to "Nothing happens on reboot".

Features:

Support machines that only support booting /EFI/Boot/bootx64.efi (#11, #13). Special thanks to Wognath for reporting and testing this.
Grub2 is now a standalone file, installed using bcdedit. This should make installing and uninstalling the bootloader faster on UEFI systems, as well as making installing or uninstalling LICK faster on all systems.

Fixes:

Don't include leading slash for psubdir (#Cool.
Libarchive has been updated to 3.3.1.
Grub2 has been updated to 2.02 (#9).
