Why so many guests in the Puppy Linux forum?

#1 Post by rufwoof »

Can't say I've really looked/noticed before, but just seen that there's been 31,400 guests/day today! Is that the normal sort of figure?

I think a lot of the "guests" are generated by search engine spiders and not real users.

Perhaps but there must be some reason that the spiders like our site. :)

Intelligent users like those in this thread may be one reason! ;)

They are mostly people who work on coding for Windows OS
Seeing how to really make a good operating system :!:
The things they do not tell you, are usually the clue to solving the problem.

Lots of spiders attracted by Puppy flies.

I'm guessing. I don't always log in. I log in if I have something to contribute. But if like me when you take a break from whatever you're doing and open a link to the Forum without logging in, several times a day, the Forum may count each of your visits as that of a "guest."

My guess, a hundred different google servers read 100 messages each to see if they've changed and thats 10,000 guests.

:D Hello,
Spiders search for keywords. One of those is the .iso format (cd's).
Puppy happens to be released as an ISO, so a lot of hits for that term on Puppy sites....
But I tend to think a lot of the guests are just people looking at the Forum and not joining...

Occasionally I take a look in the forum without logging in. I assume I'm being logged as a guest when I do that.
