Howto:
- download .delta and put into same directory as base .iso
- click on .delta to generate new .iso
- check md5 sumcheck of new .iso against *.iso.md5.txt file contents
- click on new .iso to open it
- copy updated files (usually just puppy*.sfs) to frugal install directory
- close new .iso by clicking on it
- reboot
Source: README.txt, updated 2019-04-15
This is what I followed. But I didn't check of the md5 sum of the new .iso; would that make a difference?

I read the adrv contains the web browser and can be replaced. Why couldn't I just delete it?

loot.

This all works out-of-the-box for me so far as I can tell, but my needs are fairly simple, except ...

I've gotten used to having to reinstall & reconfigure all my applications every time I want to move to a later Puppy, but JWM config setup seems to have changed out of all recognition, and I can't seem to just copy over the .~/.jwm* files & directory plus the PuppyPin and have my working environment look the same.

Is there a quick/easy way to dump that fcking menu-bar-thing at the top and revert to an old-style icons-on-the-desktop setup?
Or even a slow/painful way?

thanknx

To think, I've used Puppy since 2006, and one of my PETs once even made it into the standard distribution ...

thanks tho' :D

Hey Yall! I am happy to report that this flavor of Puppy Linux works fine on my ASUS Eee PC 900HD Netbook.I was curious how well it would work with my Broadcom Wireless and everything works great out-of-the-box. Great job to everyone involved.

Chromium doesn't start on BionicPup32

#639 Post by simes »

Hi, I'm coming back to Puppy after a year or two distracted by other operating systems, so I may have overlooked something simple and if so I apologize. I like the polish and speed of this latest LxPup (1903 update) very much, thank you PB. I downloaded the Chromium SFS and loaded it but Chromium doesn't start. Starting it from the command line produces this message:- "# chromium
/usr/lib/chromium/chromium: /lib/libm.so.6: version `GLIBC_2.29' not found (required by /usr/lib/chromium/libgtk-3.so.0)
chown: /root/spot/Downloads/*: No such file or directory
# EXIT="Exit on mouse-over"
^C
"
...which looks like a GLIBC compatibility problem. What have I missed?
Thank you!

This GLIBC error still occurs, I'm sorry to say. I can work round it (by not using Chromium!). Can I check I have compatible versions... I installed frugal Puppy from LxPupBionic19.03+5.iso and I loaded chromium_74.0.3729.169+pepper_32.0.0.192_lx_spot.sfs . Are these the versions you intended to be used together? Thank you.

Tested a fresh boot of BionicPup32 and that Chromium .sfs starts and runs OK here for me.
Your error message mentions /lib/libm.so.6
Is it possible that you have installed some other package which has overwritten this library with an older version?

I'm pleased to confirm that this latest chromium sfs (now at release 75.0.3770.100) loads and starts on my BionicPup32 system with no problem. Thanks to peebee and OscarTalk for responding and sorry for my slowness in updating the thread.

Implementation of MochiMoppel's Most Recently Used Document

#650 Post by B.K. Johnson »

Hello peebee
I haven't gone through the upupbb/bionicpup32 threads so am unaware of a report on the following.

You implemented MochiMoppel's Most Recently Used Document How to show Recently Used Documents on JWM's Start Menu but it is placed as a menu item in Places which is immovable. Consequently, hanging from the left, the width of the display area is limited to just 5 inches. A screenshot is not possible for me. Mochi's original is set up to always hang from the left so you don't have a choice in using the empty space on the right.

My implementation based on Mochi's instructions in the thread, presents a related problem for me, which I have notified Mochi about. It is that with files several levels deep and long web page article titles, the complete path of some files cannot be seen even when the Menu is invoked from the farthest right.
