Re: JWM crashes
The behavior is a weird one.O.F.I.N.S.I.S. wrote:Cant't confirm this for bionic64.proebler wrote:I am running both BionicPub64 and 32 and find that JWM crashes to a command screen when moving a window through Alt+F2 > Move or when selecting Move from the Window's drop-down menu.
I suspect this may be a known issue with JWM.
Is it ??

Though, I'm running my own WoofCE built using a real time kernel.
It happens with the 1st opened window after boot up or after a restart of the graphical server.
... So would someone care to do a restart of the graphical server (from the shut down menu),
then open a window, say pFind
then use Alt+F2
then chose 'Move' from the menu offered.
I have found the behavior in UpupBionic, DD_Stretch-7.5, Xenial-705. All these have JWM 2.3.7
With Slacko-6.9.6.4 , which has JWM 2.3.2 , there is no crash.

Problem confirmed - need to ascertain whether this is a problem specific to Puppy and if it is a generel problem raise an issue at:proebler wrote: ... So would someone care to do a restart of the graphical server (from the shut down menu),

Can't find any reference to it as a known problem....

@proebler & @peebee - this doesn't happen with ScPup64 (its standard jwm is 2.3.6; I run 2.3.7), so not an all-pup issue.
EDIT:
I'm wrong! - ScPup64-19.0x use jwm 2.3.6. Appears to be a jwm 2.3.7 issue - was compiled without fribidi in ScPup64-19.0x, but bionicpup64 has fribidi & still crashes. Strange.

bigpup graciously repliwd:I have an old broken laptop: For a width of 3 inches from top to bottom on the right, the pixels are dead. As a result, only a part of the notification tray at the bottom is visible.
Is there a file modification that could start the tray 3 inches to the left (facing screen) of where it now starts?
TIA for your assistance.
/root/.jwmrc-tray is the config file for the tray.
The settings at the beginning of this file control tray position.
Could try to change them.
layout="vertical" will put the tray vertical along the left side of desktop.
halign="center" will place it in center.
halign="right" is used to place it vertical, on right side, when layout is set to vertical. Halign="left" is normal for all other settings.
I looked in quickly at all the files in .jwm/jwmrc with "tray" in the title, but found nothing remotely resembling your description. I'll look again, but please help me zero in on the appropriate file.
Thanks

To alter 12/24 hour setting
Try MENU --> Desktop --> JWM Windows Settings --> Clock
Works on older JWM's maybe this one too.
*** PS: what version of fribidi is installed in the problematic/non-problem versions... JWM 905 using 0.3.1 dated 3/2014 ***

window manager bug?
Enjoying the latest BP32 (upupbb), one nagging problem as pictured. I am only getting "minimize" button showing up,..
Installed to HD partition, frugal. Everything else seems to work well.

spontaneous recovery?, few hours later of using the PC, now I am getting the proper all 3 buttons showing up!, don't know what I did, but the problem is resolved...
