GIMP 2.10 gmic plugin solution

#1 Post by don570 »

I found I could use gimp 2.10 image app program in easy linux.
(and fatdog linux, perhaps others)

I went to following page and downloaded the most recent compile for x64 computers

https://github.com/aferrero2707/gimp-appimage/releases

However I couldn't get gmic plugins to work . The terminal complained 'xcb' not installed.

Apparently the full xcb is not installed in puppy liinux.

However I was able to solve this problem by installing libxkbcommon-0.5.0-x86_64-1.pet
427kb

Available:

Now the gmic plugins works

I have 2.8 in xenialpup64 7.5
While I have you there what do the "gmic plugins" do ?
Would they be of any use to me ?

The pencil sketch feature is neat. It's slow though. It takes a minute or two.

G'mic is a large collection of several hundred effect plugins. Just select a plugin and the image is altered. They can be a bit slow to apply. They also can considerably increase file sizes of images.
