ROX Filer - Copy Paste in windows way (kind of)
ROX Filer - Copy Paste in windows way (kind of)
This is kind of stupid....
Many of you may know this already, I just found out....
I copy paste by opening two rox windows side by side and dragging files between them. (There's an excellent "roxset" app on forum for opening two rox windows side by side.)
Another way is to right click a file, select copy, type and change the path. This is hard way, but you can change the file name too while copying with this method, so can make copies of same file with different name at same/different locations.
What this how to is about is,
I found while experimenting that the icon in the copy window is draggable.
You can right-click a file and select copy or just ctrl+C a file.
You can do this to multiple files too (one-by-one, not all at once)
Then go to another folder in the same/another rox window and Drag the icon on the copy messages.
Many people may know this already.
It's kind of like in windows where you select copy on one location and then select paste on another.

No actually I can open only one Window, select copy on file/files.april wrote:You are still opening two filers to do it so just dragging the original file saves one click yes?
Then in same window navigate to another location and select more file/files to copy.
Then navigate to third locationin same Window and drag back the file/files.
I was just surprised that the icon was draggable, and experimented with it.
@mfb, yes I do use mmview regularly.
I just wanted to share something I found.
Might be useful for someone....
Thanks Nic - haven't spotted that before.
